The girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Book Summary: Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
My review: With any thriller book is starts out slowly. So the main character, Rachael ride the same train everyday at the same time. Turns out she kinda lost her job and pretend to go to work everyday, so her roommate does not throw her out. She is still hung up over her ex husband, Tom even through he has moved on with another wife and kid. The only thing keeping her sane is watching the same couple everyday, while riding the train. One day Rachael was so drunk, she went to see Tom, the next thing she knows that she woke up all bloody in bed and don’t remember what happen. At the same time the couple Rachael has been watching closely from riding the train, the wife, Meghan disappear about the time time Rachael was black out drunk the same night. She tries going to the police saying she saw Meghan with another man the night before while she was on the train. The police don’t believe her story as it turns out she has a history of being a drunk, and her life falling a part. During this time we just keep guessing what happen with Meghan, was it her husband, or something more shocking. Well not going to spoil that for you guys, Must pick up this book and find out yourselves, Happy Reading!
The Isle of the Lost by Melissa de la Cruz
Book Summary:
Twenty years ago, all the evil villains were banished from the kingdom of Auradon and made to live in virtual imprisonment on the Isle of the Lost. The island is surrounded by a magical force field that keeps the villains and their descendants safely locked up and away from the mainland. Life on the island is dark and dreary. It is a dirty, decrepit place that’s been left to rot and forgotten by the world.
But hidden in the mysterious Forbidden Fortress is a dragon’s eye: the key to true darkness and the villains’ only hope of escape. Only the cleverest, evilest, nastiest little villain can find it…who will it be?
Maleficent, Mistress of the Dark: As the self-proclaimed ruler of the isle, Maleficent has no tolerance for anything less than pure evil. She has little time for her subjects, who have still not mastered life without magic. Her only concern is getting off the Isle of the Lost.
Mal: At sixteen, Maleficent’s daughter is the most talented student at Dragon Hall, best known for her evil schemes. And when she hears about the dragon’s eye, Mal thinks this could be her chance to prove herself as the cruelest of them all.
Evie: Having been castle-schooled for years, Evil Queen’s daughter, Evie, doesn’t know the ins and outs of Dragon Hall. But she’s a quick study, especially after she falls for one too many of Mal’s little tricks.
Jay: As the son of Jafar, Jay is a boy of many talents: stealing and lying to name a few. Jay and Mal have been frenemies forever and he’s not about to miss out on the hunt for the dragon’s eye.
Carlos: Cruella de Vil’s son may not be bravest, but he’s certainly clever. Carlos’s inventions may be the missing piece in locating the dragon’s eye and ending the banishment for good.
Mal soon learns from her mother that the dragon’s eye is cursed and whoever retrieves it will be knocked into a deep sleep for a thousand years. But Mal has a plan to capture it. She’ll just need a little help from her “friends.” In their quest for the dragon’s eye, these kids begin to realize that just because you come from an evil family tree, being good ain’t so bad.
My review
So popular Disney villains been lock up in a mini dome for years thanks to Beauty and the Beast idea. The dome is cut off from the world where magic is cut off and going, with their only source of food is left over stuff form good side, Auradon. While they trap under the dome that have kids just as evil as them, so you think. Mal daughter of Maleficent, Jay son of Jafar, Carlos son of Cruella de Vill and Evie daughter of evil queen they don’t really get along with each other. Mal rules the school with Jay as her side kick. But when Evie comes in public school for the first time in year after Mal’s mom curse her for not invited her daughter to an party years ago. So you have Mal and Evie butt heads throughout the book. To get her revenge on the Evie, Mal invites Evie to a party to prank her over at Carlos. But things get out of hand when Carlos mess with an invention he made and might have open the dome a bit to let magic in. So Mal’s mother made her set out for a request to get her wand. With the help from Jay who coming along for steal from Mal, Evie so Mal can curse her when they find the wand and Carlos whose only came he is scare of Mal and Evie wanted him to come. So they set on this journey to find this wand and prove their folks they are evil like them
Meanwhile by in Auradon, Beauty and the Beast son Prince Ben getting ready to take over the throne. But he is also unsure of himself. Then we end the night at hard rock and playee at Ripley believe or not.
Sunday May 31st
So we got up really early to try and see Sarah j Maas for my friend to get a book sign. Sadly her line was cap and heard people line up about 4 am to see her. Crazy I kno,. So we jump into Rae Carson line instead. Luckily it was short line and got a new arc from her new series. She was wearing such lovely golden nails to match the book that day.
So after signing we ran upstairs to wait out and get a poster sign from Sarah J Maas. Lucky my friend made it to that since she hover and waited around the booths. As for me I was exploring again until my signing with Jodi Picoult. Very quick signing since her line was long but worth it to get off the page book.
After each signing it was time to grab some more free books and swag. Could have stay longer and taken more stuff home but did not have a bigger suite case and had to cut myself off. Mostly left the city before the thunder storm hit us. Lucky no books was harm.

Well had a blast can’t wait to go again next time it’s in nyc. Next year they moving to Chicago for one day. Hope everyone enjoys this post. Happy Friday, bookworms!!!
