Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Heartless

Book Summary:

Long before she was the terror of Wonderland — the infamous Queen of Hearts — she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend and supply the Kingdom of Hearts with delectable pastries and confections. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king’s marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship.

Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans

My Review:

The story start out with Cath, she has her whole life plan out to be the best baker in all of hearts and open up her own store with her maid as co partner. But being a woman in hearts is hard since no one support her planor  her parents want to marry her off to the king.  As the King about to propose to her she runs off and bumps into Jest who saved her life. Slowly things are not what they seems in hearts as the king is dumb about the attacks and to blind to see that Cath wants nothing to do with her. Will Cath be brave enough to stand up to her parents and chose her own fate or will she lose her hearts in the process of running away from fate? Well you have read and find out yourself when the book comes out in the fall. Marissa Meyers did it again with another good retelling.  Can’t wait for more of her books to come out soon. So Happy Reading!

Bella16

We were not planning to kidnap one of them. Especially not the most useless one. But we had him—his room key, his cell phone, and his secrets.

We were not planning on what happened next.

We swear.

From thrilling new talent Goldy Moldavsky comes a pitch-black, hilarious take on fandom and the badass girls who have the power to make—or break—the people we call “celebrities.”

My Review:

The book starts off with an unknown name person, telling the story how her and her friends Erin, Apple and Isabel kidnap a boy band member Rupert P. These girls are hard core fangirls to the band The Ruperts. The day before the concert, the girls rented a room where the boys they were staying. When Apple goes get ice she comes back with the less favorite boy band member Rupert. Now he is tied up in the girls with with no idea what they gonna do with him. Suddenly Erin seems to have a plan. The person telling the story is Samantha, you find out later on but also give false names throughout the book. The only one left in the dark on what the girls at planning for the night. Bella15

Book Summary:

Ruth Jefferson is a labor and delivery nurse at a Connecticut hospital with more than twenty years’ experience. During her shift, Ruth begins a routine checkup on a newborn, only to be told a few minutes later that she’s been reassigned to another patient. The parents are white supremacists and don’t want Ruth, who is African American, to touch their child. The hospital complies with their request, but the next day, the baby goes into cardiac distress while Ruth is alone in the nursery. Does she obey orders or does she intervene?

Ruth hesitates before performing CPR and, as a result, is charged with a serious crime. Kennedy McQuarrie, a white public defender, takes her case but gives unexpected advice: Kennedy insists that mentioning race in the courtroom is not a winning strategy. Conflicted by Kennedy’s counsel, Ruth tries to keep life as normal as possible for her family—especially her teenage son—as the case becomes a media sensation. As the trial moves forward, Ruth and Kennedy must gain each other’s trust, and come to see that what they’ve been taught their whole lives about others—and themselves—might be wrong.

My Review:

Ruth had been a good nurse for over 20 years. Until one day Turk walks into her life, changing your life forever. One look at Ruth black skin Turk had nothing to do with Ruth or touch his newborn baby. But when the baby starts coded with Ruth alone at the time, she is just doing her job not touching the baby until the head nurse comes back. Sadly when the baby passed away during Ruth care it becomes a crime and manslaughter case for Ruth against Turk. You go through two different point of views on who was right and wrong in this case. Lives on the line as race is the key factor of this case. Now who will win this trail against Turk vs Ruth? Well you have to read for yourself when the book comes out Oct, 11, 2016 this year. So Happy Reading!
