17424956_10208973268315531_3469322370500783652_n

Book Summary:

An epic, romantic, and action-packed fantasy inspired by the tale of Rumpelstiltskin, about a bastard princess who must take on an evil fae to save her brother’s soul, from C. J. Redwine, the New York Times bestselling author of The Shadow Queen. Perfect for fans of Graceling and the Lunar Chronicles.

The world has turned upside down for Thad and Ari Glavan, the bastard twins of Súndraille’s king. Their mother was murdered. The royal family died mysteriously. And now Thad sits on the throne of a kingdom whose streets are suddenly overrun with violence he can’t stop.

Growing up ignored by the nobility, Ari never wanted to be a proper princess. And when Thad suddenly starts training Ari to take his place, she realizes that her brother’s ascension to the throne wasn’t fate. It was the work of a Wish Granter named Alistair Teague who tricked Thad into wishing away both the safety of his people and his soul in exchange for the crown.

So Ari recruits the help of Thad’s enigmatic new weapons master, Sebastian Vaughn, to teach her how to fight Teague. With secret ties to Teague’s criminal empire, Sebastian might just hold the key to discovering Alistair’s weaknesses, saving Ari’s brother—and herself.

But Teague is ruthless and more than ready to destroy anyone who dares stand in his way—and now he has his sights set on the princess. And if Ari can’t outwit him, she’ll lose Sebastian, her brother…and her soul.

My Review:

The story involves two twins Thad and Ari. While on the run after being hunted down, Thad bumps into the wish granter Teague and made a deadly wish to save his sister. Now that the royal family died, that bastard twins sit on the throne, but at what cost? Now it’s up to Ari, to save her brother soul and the kingdom of Teague reign. She will train with Sebastian to use weapons. Can all three team up and save their kingdom before Teague takes over everything? This new retelling of Rumpelstiltskin leaves you wanting more. This is my first read from C.J Redwine books and won’t be my last. Her books takes you to an far away place and leaves you wanting for me. I really enjoy this new twist of the story and would not mind reading is again. The cover is so pretty and have you draw. So grab this book and read the twins story for yourself, you won’t regret it in the end. Happy Reading!

Things do go bump in the night and monsters do roam around. I love this retelling of beauty and beast. Another book I read so long ago. Would reread in a heartbeat. The setting of the story is in the past, and could be for older teens if I remember right. Well written and this book is so overlooked. Hope more people read this book in time. {ARC Review} Geekerella: A Fangirl Fairy Tale by Ashley Poston

17155814_10208845357437839_450969003933340538_n

Book Summary:

Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad’s old costume), Elle’s determined to win…unless her stepsisters get there first.

Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise. But when she disappears at midnight, will he ever be able to find her again?

Part romance, part love letter to nerd culture, and all totally adorbs, Geekerella is a fairy tale for anyone who believes in the magic of fandom. (less)

Hardcover, 320 pages
Expected publication: April 4th 2017 by Quirk Books

My Review:

Elle is just like any fangirls out there. When her favorite show Starfield going to be remake, you bet she will on top of there. That was her and father favorites they used to watch together and cosplay at the conventions. Exelsicon was her dad’s life work for fandoms around the world. When he passed she never attend it again, now living her stepmother and two step sisters. When some stranger calls her dad old phone things changes for Elle a bit and start to open up more and making friends. Still living under her stepmother rules. This is a new twist of the classic fairytale, you guess it Cinderella. This modern take is a light, quick read. Really love all the fandoms that were mention in this book. You get to See Elle grow and become her father’s daughter a bit. In the meantime you get two point of views in the book. Darien is an actor  struggling also himself trying to find himself also in the acting world while being a fanboy himself. It find getting both side of the story and seeing it all come together in the end. This debut author book gonna be popular once it comes out. Was lucky to get from net gallery and review. So watch out for this book in April and Happy Reading!
