Reign the Earth by A.C Gaughen

Book Summary:

Shalia is a proud daughter of the desert, but after years of devastating war with the adjoining kingdom, her people are desperate for peace. Willing to trade her freedom to ensure the safety of her family, Shalia becomes Queen of the Bonelands.

But she soon learns that her husband, Calix, is motivated only by his desire to exterminate the Elementae—mystical people who can control earth, wind, air, and fire. Even more unsettling are Shalia’s feelings for her husband’s brother, which unleash a power over the earth she never knew she possessed—a power that could get her killed. As rumors of a rebellion against Calix spread, Shalia must choose between the last chance for peace and her own future as an Elementae.

My Review:

Thought the book was an good read. The world building to it I did enjoy.

Felt bad for the main character, Shalia. She goes through rough times after marrying a man she hardly knew. Wish she could have use her hidden powers more in the book, to use and break free from Calix wrath. Hopefully in book 2 to get to see her grow more stronger.

The guard, Galen was my favorite in the book. He is so sweet and very protective of Shalia. The only one who stands up to his brother, Calix. Hope to see more of him in book two.

This book is action packed, full of magic and sensitive topic on something. Could lean towards more on older teens. I’m looking forward to see where things go for book 2.
