{Arc Review} Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian

Book Summary:
Theodosia was six when her country was invaded and her mother, the Fire Queen, was murdered before her eyes. On that day, the Kaiser took Theodosia’s family, her land, and her name. Theo was crowned Ash Princess–a title of shame to bear in her new life as a prisoner.
For ten years Theo has been a captive in her own palace. She’s endured the relentless abuse and ridicule of the Kaiser and his court. She is powerless, surviving in her new world only by burying the girl she was deep inside.
Then, one night, the Kaiser forces her to do the unthinkable. With blood on her hands and all hope of reclaiming her throne lost, she realizes that surviving is no longer enough. But she does have a weapon: her mind is sharper than any sword. And power isn’t always won on the battlefield.
For ten years, the Ash Princess has seen her land pillaged and her people enslaved. That all ends here.

My Review:

The cover and the summary of this book had drawn me in. It was a little different then I’m use to reading. The idea of a princess who uses her brains to win battles then fight her out, is very new to me. I like some of the book, wish there more action and adventure to it.

If you enjoy books with tons of political thinking, love triangles and less action. This book might be for you. Hopefully in book two get some see more take action. It might have been slow pace and not fit for me, but hope the rest of you liked it.

Happy Reading!

The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw

Book Summary:
Welcome to the cursed town of Sparrow…
Where, two centuries ago, three sisters were sentenced to death for witchery. Stones were tied to their ankles and they were drowned in the deep waters surrounding the town.
Now, for a brief time each summer, the sisters return, stealing the bodies of three weak-hearted girls so that they may seek their revenge, luring boys into the harbor and pulling them under.
Like many locals, seventeen-year-old Penny Talbot has accepted the fate of the town. But this year, on the eve of the sisters’ return, a boy named Bo Carter arrives; unaware of the danger he has just stumbled into.
Mistrust and lies spread quickly through the salty, rain-soaked streets. The townspeople turn against one another. Penny and Bo suspect each other of hiding secrets. And death comes swiftly to those who cannot resist the call of the sisters.
But only Penny sees what others cannot. And she will be forced to choose: save Bo, or save herself.

My Review:

Did enjoy the story idea for this book. In the beginning for me was kinda of a slow burn. Thankful for an nice twist that had turn the book around for. Both main characters I did like. They each have their own secrets and story to tell.

Like Penny story, she feeling stuck on the island. Have no directions to go in life. Until she meets Bo, who shows her there more to life. Can she really trust Bo an outsider of the island of is he doom to be taken by the sisters curse?

Book was a quick read for me. Lots of twists and turns towards the middle of the book. It’s an an good standalone fantasy book, for witch lovers.

Ready to go to Sparrow and watch the sisters destroy lives?

As She Fades by Abbi Glines

Book Summary:
On the night of her high school graduation, Vale McKinley and her boyfriend Crawford are in a terrible car accident that leaves Crawford in a coma. They were supposed to spend the summer planning for college, for a bright future full of possibility. Together. Instead, Vale spends long days in the hospital, hoping Crawford will awaken.
Slate Allen, a college friend of Vale’s brother, has been visiting his dying uncle at the same hospital. When he and Vale meet, she can’t deny the flutter of an illicit attraction. She tries to ignore her feelings, but she’s not immune to Slate’s charm. Slowly, they form a cautious friendship.
Then, Crawford wakes up . . . with no memory of Vale or their relationship. Heartbroken, Vale opts to leave for college and move on with her life. Except now, she’s in Slate’s territory, and their story is about to take a very strange turn.

My Review:

Thought the book was an alright read for me. The beginning of it did not care much. It was very predictable at first. Then in the middle was surprise by an huge twist.

Vale was so dictated to Carter in the book. Willing to give up her dreams to be with him. I like watching her grow, and learning to coop after the accident.

I did not like Slate as much. A big player sleep with everyone. But after a big twist in the middle of the book, started to feel bad for the guy. Can he complete with coma guy, Carter for Vale’s heart?

Book is mostly for older teens. You enjoy predictable story, shocking twist then this book might be for you. Also the summary is very misleading. Looking for a new fiction then this book may be for you.

{Arc Review & Giveaway} Stay Sweet by Siobhan Vivian

Book Summary:
A summer read about first love, feminism, and ice cream.
Summer in Sand Lake isn’t complete without a trip to Meade Creamery—the local ice cream stand founded in 1944 by Molly Meade who started making ice cream to cheer up her lovesick girlfriends while all the boys were away at war. Since then, the stand has been owned and managed exclusively by local girls, who inevitably become the best of friends. Seventeen-year-old Amelia and her best friend Cate have worked at the stand every summer for the past three years, and Amelia is “Head Girl” at the stand this summer. When Molly passes away before Amelia even has her first day in charge, Amelia isn’t sure that the stand can go on. That is, until Molly’s grandnephew Grady arrives and asks Amelia to stay on to help continue the business…but Grady’s got some changes in mind.

My Review:

I can say this book is sweet. I liked the story idea of a group of friends working in an ice cream place for years together. Things change when the owner dies and the new hot manager starts and changes things up. He seems to be more trouble than what he’s worth.

I love the friendship between Cate and Amelie. Cate is like the bad girl, while Amelie is the sweet one. With this being their last summer together, will the new male manager ruin things between them?

A lot of ice cream was wasted throughout the book. The bonds and the friendships at the ice cream shop gets tested. It was a good book on best friends and trying to enjoy their last summer, before moving away to college.

Are you excited for the release of this cute summery read? Disappointed that you didn’t receive an arc? Well, you’re in luck!!! I’m giving away my personal arc copy to one lucky reader. Good Luck!!

Happy Reading!!!

{Arc Review} Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody

Book Summary:
Welcome to the City of Sin, where casino families reign, gangs infest the streets…
and secrets hide in every shadow.
Enne Salta was raised as a proper young lady, and no lady would willingly visit New Reynes, the so-called City of Sin. But when her mother goes missing, Enne must leave her finishing school—and her reputation—behind to follow her mother’s trail to the city where no one survives uncorrupted.
Frightened and alone, her only lead is a name: Levi Glaisyer. Unfortunately, Levi is not the gentleman she expected—he’s a street lord and a con man. Levi is also only one payment away from cleaning up a rapidly unraveling investment scam, so he doesn’t have time to investigate a woman leading a dangerous double life. Enne’s offer of compensation, however, could be the solution to all his problems.
Their search for clues leads them through glamorous casinos, illicit cabarets and into the clutches of a ruthless mafia donna. As Enne unearths an impossible secret about her past, Levi’s enemies catch up to them, ensnaring him in a vicious execution game where the players always lose. To save him, Enne will need to surrender herself to the city…
And she’ll need to play.

My Review:

I thought the book was just alright. The story was something different to me. Never read any books before on the casino life. Story for me just seem a little slow and drag out. As for the characters, I don’t really have an favorite in the book.

Enne is a lost little girl, looking for her mother and Levi holds the answers she needs. Levi is an con man in the story, so you think Enne should trust him with her life? With magic and gangs walking around. So many secrets, you don’t know who to trust.

This book I dont think it was right for me, but you guys might enjoy it. Maybe will try and see where book two goes.

Ready to play in the City of Sin?
