{Waiting on Wednesday} A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas

I’m so excited and looking forward to this book. Love the cover to it. Sarah J Maas is my auto buy author. May 1st can’t come soon enough.

Summary:

The Winter Solstice. In a week. I was still new enough to being High Lady that I had no idea what my formal role was to be. If we’d have a High Priestess do some odious ceremony, as lanthe had done the year before. A year. Gods, nearly a year since Rhys had called in his bargain, desperate to get me away from the poison of the Spring Court to save me from my despair. Had he been only a minute later, the Mother knew what would have happened. Where I’d now be. Snow swirled and eddied in the garden, catching in the brown fibers of the burlap covering the shrubs My mate who had worked so hard and so selflessly, all without hope that I would ever be with him We had both fought for that love, bled for it. Rhys had died for it

{Arc Review} Winter Glass (Spindle Fire #2) by Lexa Hillyer

Book Summary:
A curse comes undone. A kingdom shatters. But some bonds can’t be broken.
Princess Aurora, torn from the dream world, plots to assassinate the faerie queen Malfleur, only to confront temptations she never expected. Isabelle, meanwhile, opens her heart to Prince William as they attempt to unite their kingdoms and wage war against Malfleur’s army. But when the appearance of an unbreakable glass slipper prompts Isabelle to discover more about her lineage, her true identity begins to take shape and her legacy becomes as clear as ice.
Devoted half-sisters Isabelle and Aurora will grapple with their understanding of love and loyalty as they face a threat even greater than that of the evil queen—the threat of losing each other forever.

My Review:

This is book two of Spindle Fire. If you have yet read book one, then you don’t need to read this review. Spindle Fire is an retelling for sleeping beauty. For those you love fairy tales and retellings.

I adore reading Aurora story in the second book. Love how she tries to cope with the real world, after all she lost in her dream world. Sad watching her figure what is real or not. Is the man she once love was ever real?

I like how Isabelle grows in this book. Take charge kind of way. Always taking care of her sister and kingdom, but who will take care of her? Hopefully she let’s love in before it’s to late.

This book is magical and action pack. Will Aurora and Isabelle be able to save their kingdom and get the guys at the end? I do love the covers to these books.

Happy Reading!!

Beyond a Darkened Shore
Genre: Young Adult, fantasy
Publication: April 10th, 2018 by HarperTeen

The ancient land of Éirinn is mired in war. Ciara, Princess of Mide, has never known a time when Éirinn’s kingdoms were not battling for power, or Northmen were not plundering their shores.

The people of Mide have thankfully always been safe because of Ciara’s unearthly ability to control her enemies’ minds and actions. But lately, a mysterious crow has been appearing to Ciara, whispering warnings of an even darker threat. Although her clansmen dismiss her visions as pagan nonsense, Ciara fears this coming evil will destroy not just Éirinn, but the entire world.

Then the crow leads Ciara to Leif, a young Northman leader. Leif should be Ciara’s enemy, but when Ciara discovers that he, too, shares her prophetic visions, she knows he’s something more. Leif is mounting an impressive army, and with Ciara’s strength in battle the two might have a chance to save their world.

With evil rising around them, they’ll do what it takes to defend the land they love…even if it means making the greatest sacrifice of all.

Once upon a time, Jessica Leake was a psychotherapist, but even though she loved her clients, she couldn’t stop writing.

She wrote and wrote until she got her first book published, and then she wrote some more. In between all that writing she had four beautiful and hilarious children with her husband (best friend and man she’s known since high school; also hilarious), moved back to her adopted hometown of Greenville, SC, built a chicken coop, and got a bunch of chickens that poop breakfast every morning. She also has two dogs to keep the chickens in line. (The dogs made her write that last bit.)

Arcana and The Order of the Eternal Sun are available now, and Beyond a Darkened Shore, her YA debut from HarperTeen will be released in April 10, 2018.

The Traitor’s Game by Jennifer A. Nielsen

Book Summary:
Nothing is as it seems in the kingdom of Antora. Kestra Dallisor has spent three years in exile in the Lava Fields, but that won’t stop her from being drawn back into her father’s palace politics. He’s the right hand man of the cruel king, Lord Endrick, which makes Kestra a valuable bargaining chip. A group of rebels knows this all too well – and they snatch Kestra from her carriage as she reluctantly travels home. The kidnappers want her to retrieve the lost Olden Blade, the only object that can destroy the immortal king, but Kestra is not the obedient captive they expected. Simon, one of her kidnappers, will have his hands full as Kestra tries to foil their plot, by force, cunning, or any means necessary. As motives shift and secrets emerge, both will have to decide what – and who – it is they’re fighting for.

“In a traitor’s game, there are no. winners

Only those left standing at the end.

Cheat or be cheater

Crush or be crushed Play…… or be killed.

The next move is mine.”

My Review:

The book storyline was pretty interesting. Little slowish the storyline is. . I did enjoy some of the characters.

The main princess Kestra, pretends to be helpless but is very smart. She can wield an sword pretty good. There are secrets about her like why she disappeared for years and suddenly returning home. I like an princess who not so helpless in books. Along the way she gets kidnapped, will she be able to out smart her captors?

I like Simon so much. He may have have help kidnap the princess, but he has this kind heart inside. Even if the princess betray him years ago when they where kids. He still never lost his caring heart. Will Simon be foolish again to trust the princess?

Sadly story drag out and not to much magic factor going on until the end. Hopefully the action and magic will pick up in book two. If your into kidnap princess, and a magic villain on the loose then this book could be for you.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

Book Summary:
Zélie Adebola remembers when the soil of Orïsha hummed with magic. Burners ignited flames, Tiders beckoned waves, and Zelie’s Reaper mother summoned forth souls.
But everything changed the night magic disappeared. Under the orders of a ruthless king, maji were targeted and killed, leaving Zélie without a mother and her people without hope.
Now, Zélie has one chance to bring back magic and strike against the monarchy. With the help of a rogue princess, Zélie must outwit and outrun the crown prince, who is hell-bent on eradicating magic for good.
Danger lurks in Orïsha, where snow leoponaires prowl and vengeful spirits wait in the waters. Yet the greatest danger may be Zélie herself as she struggles to control her powers—and her growing feelings for the enemy.

Book Review:

Book was so good. I enjoy the world building to it and some of the characters in the book. Second best fantasy read of the year for me.

Really like Zelie in the book. She starts off as a fighter and her big mouth will get her on trouble. Lucky her brother, Tzain can get her out of trouble at times. With there luck they run into Princess Amari. With Amari’s brother hunting her down along the way.

So, what trouble has Amari gotten herself into?

How does that involved Zeile and Tzain along the way?

With so many hidden secrets in the book. Also with tons of body count along the way. No one is safe in this world. Told between three point of views. If you enjoy long high fantasy, then this book is for you.

Happy Reading!
