I really enjoyed this book. This is the perfect read for anyone who has ever attended Comic-Con or a similar convention.

Everything about this book spoke to me and I loved it. Love the idea of the characters getting trapped inside their favorite movie/book.

I liked Violet in the book. She is willing to do whatever it takes to get back home. Will she be able to get everyone home safely in the end?

The book was action pack, and a fun read. You get a glance what’s it really like being in The Gallows.

Are you ready to get suck into The Gallows?

Onyx and Ivory by Mindee Arnett

Book Summary:
They call her Traitor Kate. It’s a title Kate Brighton inherited from her father after he tried to assassinate the high king years ago. Now Kate lives as an outcast, clinging to the fringes of society as a member of the Relay, the imperial courier service. Only those most skilled in riding and bow hunting ride for the Relay; and only the fastest survive, for when dark falls, the nightdrakes—deadly flightless dragons—come out to hunt. Fortunately, Kate has a secret edge: she is a wilder, born with magic that allows her to influence the minds of animals. But it’s this magic that she needs to keep hidden, as being a wilder is forbidden, punishable by death or exile. And it’s this magic that leads her to a caravan massacred by nightdrakes in broad daylight—the only survivor her childhood friend, her first love, the boy she swore to forget, the boy who broke her heart.
The high king’s second son, Corwin Tormane, never asked to lead. Even as he waits for the uror—the once-in-a-generation ritual to decide which of the king’s children will succeed him—he knows it’s always been his brother who will assume the throne. And that’s fine by him. He’d rather spend his days away from the palace, away from the sight of his father, broken with sickness from the attempt on his life. But the peacekeeping tour Corwin is on has given him too much time to reflect upon the night he saved his father’s life—the night he condemned the would-be killer to death and lost the girl he loved. Which is why he takes it on himself to investigate rumors of unrest in one of the remote city-states, only for his caravan to be attacked—and for him to be saved by Kate.
With their paths once more entangled, Kate and Corwin have to put the past behind them. The threat of drakes who attack in the daylight is only the beginning of a darker menace stirring in the kingdom—one whose origins have dire implications for Kate’s father’s attack upon the king and will thrust them into the middle of a brewing civil war in the kingdom of Rime.

My Review:

This book was alright for me. I liked the story itself. Some of the characters I did enjoy.

Kate, I liked her in the book. Pretty neat she has powers to control horses. I do love horses. She is very skilled in almost everything. Can’t wait to see how her powers grow more in book two.

Corwin, the crown prince. He sometimes struggles to do what’s right. Has to choose between his duty as a prince and his heart at times. Could his childhood crush with Kate, get in the way of him becoming a king?

The summary gives most of the book away. It switches between point of views between Kate and Corwin. If you like slow burn fantasy, you might enjoy this book. The ending made me want to know what happens next.

Kat and Meg Conquer the World by Anna Priemaza

Book Summary:
For fans of Nicola Yoon’s Everything, Everything, Emery Lord’s When We Collided, and Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl, Anna Priemaza’s debut novel is a heartwarming and achingly real story of finding a friend, being a fan, and defining your place in a difficult world.
Kat and Meg couldn’t be more different. Kat’s anxiety makes it hard for her to talk to people. Meg hates being alone, but her ADHD keeps pushing people away. But when the two girls are thrown together for a year-long science project, they discover they do have one thing in common: They’re both obsessed with the same online gaming star and his hilarious videos.
It might be the beginning of a beautiful friendship—if they don’t kill each other first.

My Review:

This book was such an fun read. I enjoy everything about it. The characters I adore to the storyline I love.

Kat and Meg could not be any different from each other. Meg is out going and have AHAD. While is Kat is shy and afraid of everything, thanks to her anxiety disorder.

When force to work together at school, what’s the worse can happen?

For the love of video game fans, and comic con nerds out there. This book might be for you. It’s fresh and pretty fun read about friends bonding and getting to know each other better.

Happy Reading!!

The Belles By Dhonielle Clayton

Book Summary:
Camellia Beauregard is a Belle. In the opulent world of Orléans, Belles are revered, for they control Beauty, and Beauty is a commodity coveted above all else. In Orléans, the people are born gray, they are born damned, and only with the help of a Belle and her talents can they transform and be made beautiful.
But it’s not enough for Camellia to be just a Belle. She wants to be the favorite—the Belle chosen by the Queen of Orléans to live in the royal palace, to tend to the royal family and their court, to be recognized as the most talented Belle in the land. But once Camellia and her Belle sisters arrive at court, it becomes clear that being the favorite is not everything she always dreamed it would be. Behind the gilded palace walls live dark secrets, and Camellia soon learns that the very essence of her existence is a lie—that her powers are far greater, and could be more dangerous, than she ever imagined. And when the queen asks Camellia to risk her own life and help the ailing princess by using Belle powers in unintended ways, Camellia now faces an impossible decision.
With the future of Orléans and its people at stake, Camellia must decide—save herself and her sisters and the way of the Belles—or resuscitate the princess, risk her own life, and change the ways of her world forever.

My Review:

I really enjoy the story idea of the book and some of the characters in the book. It was an eye opener on what it takes to be a Belles.

Camellia, was raised with magic of the Belles. Taught how to make people pretty. She dreams of becoming of a favorite and work with the royals. Soon she learns being a Belle is not as it seems. Everything she learn, while growing up was lies. What dark faith do the Belles suffer through?

Book was edge of you seat, action packed. Little more mature theme with abuse and suffering. Being a Belle does comes with a cost.

Are you ready to become a Belles?
