Five hundred years ago, the Maison Realm was shattered, divided into warring kingdoms of elemental Wielders with fate and truth shadowed and uncertain. Lyric has no idea that there’s a realm outside the human one she lives in. When fate and circumstances are pulled from her hands after an accident, and she finds out that nothing is at it seems.

There is a war surrounding her and when Lyric realizes that they are searching for her, she must rely on those she once trusted: a boy who isn’t who she thought, and a new realm of warriors who have come to protect her as she trains.

For the darkness is coming, and the Queen of Obscurité wants to ensure that the King of Lumière can’t get his hands on Lyric. And the only way to ensure that is if Lyric herself is no more…no matter the cost to prophecy.

About the ELEMENTS OF FIVE series

One thousand years ago, there was one realm of magic. The Maison Realm. It held five kingdoms with five kings or queens, who worked together to keep the Maison people safe and ensure the balance of magic. Over the last five hundred years following the Fall, the great war that began the fracture, many of the kingdoms’ inhabitants intermated, and the magics soon became tied to one another in pairs. Except for the Spirit Wielders. The two remaining kingdoms are now converging, and the veil between the two is fading. Only the human realm lies between the two, and no one there knows there is a war surrounding them.

Over time, certain children of the Fall began to leave their respective kingdoms to venture into the human realm in search of the prophesied Spirit Priestess who is said to wield the Elements of Five and bring the two fractured kingdoms together. For the realms are dying without their sister magics. And soon, there will be no more power left to rule the kingdoms, for there will be no more kingdoms left to rule.

Journey to the magical world of Erthia in these two exciting prequels to The Black Witch by critically acclaimed author Laurie Forest.

Wandfasted

Twenty years before Elloren Gardner enrolled at the illustrious Verpax University, Erthia was rent asunder during the devastating Realm War. When Tessla Harrow is driven from her home by the fighting, she discovers a depth of power she never knew she had…and an irresistible draw toward Vale Gardner, the son of the most powerful mage her people have ever known-the Black Witch.

Light Mage

Before Elloren Gardner came to possess the White Wand of myth, the Wand was drawn to another bearer: Sagellyn Gaffney. Sage’s affinity for light magery, a rare skill among Gardnerians, makes her the perfect protector for the one tool that can combat the shadows spreading across Erthia. But in order to keep the Wand safe from the dark forces hunting for it, Sage must abandon everything she once knew and forge a new path for herself…a dangerous course that could lead to either triumph or utter ruin.

ends up being the nightmare.” – Roshani Chokshi, New York Times bestselling author of The Star-
Touched Queen

A prince in danger must decide who to trust.
A boy with a monstrous secret waits in the wings.
Together, they must assassinate the king and stop the war.
In a centuries-long war where beauty and brutality meet, their three paths entwine in a shadowy world
of spilled blood and mysterious saints, where a forbidden romance threatens to tip the scales between
dark and light. Wicked Saints is the thrilling start to Emily A. Duncan’s devastatingly Gothic Something
Dark and Holy trilogy.
“This book destroyed me and I adored it.”- Stephanie Garber, New York Times bestselling author
of Caraval

My Review:

Wicked Saints was something new for me. I was intrigued with the storyline and connected with the some of the characters in the book.

Nadya in the begining was in hiding. She has powers to talk with gods, with powerful people on the hunt for her. When the place she was hiding out in, is attack, she is force to join the rebels. With both common goals to take down the king, will Nadya be brave enough to use her gifts?

Serefin is a prince, on the hunt for Nadya. He is a ruthless prince and would do anything to get his hands on her. Not liking the way his father rules, he might have to form unlikely allies. With a lot at stake, is Setrfin suited to rule?

This book is filled with with adventures and lots of twists. It told in points of view between Serefin and Nadya. If your mood for something dark and twisted, you might enjoy this read. Thanks to St Martain Press for letting me be a part of the blog tour.

{Arc Review} Killing November by Adriana Mather

Book Summary:
It’s a school completely off the grid, hidden by dense forest and surrounded by traps. There’s no electricity, no internet, and an eye-for-an-eye punishment system. Classes include everything from Knife-Throwing and Poisons to the Art of Deception and Historical Analysis. And all of the students are children of the world’s most elite strategists—training to become assassins, counselors, spies, and master impersonators. Into this world walks November Adley, who quickly discovers that friends are few in a school where personal revelations are discouraged and competition is everything. When another student is murdered, all eyes turn to November, who must figure out exactly how she fits into the school’s bizarre strategy games before she is found guilty of the crime…or becomes the killer’s next victim.

My Review:

What happens you wake up in a strange boarding school for assassins?

For November, she has no clue what her father was thinking on sending her here. The school is divided into families, kids are train to be killers. The question is, how does November fit into all this. No idea she had been kept hidden for years from family secret. After a student is killed, she must find answers to her pass before it’s to late.

Killing November was such a fast pace read. I did love everything about it and enjoy half the characters in it. I did finish this book in one sitting. Looking forward to book two. If you love boarding school books and assassins, then this book prefect for you. It comes out March 26th.

The Deceivers by Kristen Simmons

Book Summary:
Pretty Little Liars meets Ocean’s 11 in this intrigue-filled contemporary drama from acclaimed author Kristen Simmons.
Welcome to Vale Hall, the school for aspiring con artists.
When Brynn Hilder is recruited to Vale, it seems like the elite academy is her chance to start over, away from her mom’s loser boyfriend and her rundown neighborhood. But she soon learns that Vale chooses students not so much for their scholastic talent as for their extracurricular activities, such as her time spent conning rich North Shore kids out of their extravagant allowances.
At first, Brynn jumps at the chance to help the school in its mission to rid the city of corrupt officials–because what could be better than giving entitled jerks what they deserve? But that’s before she meets her mark–a senator’s son–and before she discovers the school’s headmaster has secrets he’ll stop at nothing to protect. As the lines between right and wrong blur, Brynn begins to realize she’s in way over head.

My Review:

The Deceivers was such a addictive read. Another great book for the year. The storyline was fun and the characters I did enjoy.

Brynn works hard to try to survive. Even if it means conning people and trying to get out of town. Vale Hall notice her talents and offer her a chance of freedom from her old life. When the past comes back to haunt her, will she be truly free?

This book was very hard to put down. I was intrigued with the story and how each character interacts with each other. There are some secrets and twists within this book. If your in mood for a good boarding school story, then you won’t be disappointed.

You ready to go to Vale Hall?

{Arc Review} Tin Heart by Shivaun Plozza

Book Summary:
When Marlowe gets a heart transplant and a second chance at life, all she wants to do is to thank her donor’s family. Maybe then she can move on. Maybe then she’ll discover who she is if she’s no longer The Dying Girl.
But with a little brother who dresses like every day is Halloween, a vegan warrior for a mother, and an all-out war with the hot butcher’s apprentice next door, Marlowe’s life is already pretty complicated. And her second chance is about to take an unexpected turn…

My Review:

Tin Heart was a good book. It’s a life changing story about heart transplant.

Marlowe in the book has been the dying girl for years. Now she has a second chance at life and to discover who she is. She becomes a little brat in the book, not listening to her mother, and lashing out a bit. Marlowe find it hard making friends and fitting in at the same time. Will she be able to make the most with her new life?

The Summary gives book most away. It was an quick read. The storyline is slow start. I did like the book but won’t read it again. If your interested in some new fiction, then you might enjoy this read. This book just recently came out.

But when their plans lead them right back to evil marveler Pahn, and to Baren—who is more dangerous than ever—can Wil and her friends outsmart their enemies, this time, for good?

My Review:

The Cursed Sea is another good read. I enjoyed this book better than The Glass Spare. If you have yet read The Glass Spare than you don’t need to read this review. I thought the book was more action packed than the first one. The characters grow stronger since the last book also.

The book starts with Wilhelmina finally returning home. After some training and learning to master her powers better. She ready to confront her father and get answers about her curse. Things at home is not as it seems. Dangers lurks in every corner, and she is force to work with unlikely ally. Will she be able to save her kingdom?

The story is more fast pace, with more body counts and a lot darker. If you enjoyed The Glass Spare than you in for a treat in book two. If your new to this world, then pick up The Glass Spare and start it.

The Bloodspell by C.J Redwine

Book Summary:

What they discover will lead them to the darkest reaches of the kingdom, and to the most painful moments of their pasts. When romance is forbidden and evil is rising, can Blue save those she loves, even if it costs her everything?

My Review:

Bloodspell was such an epic adventure. Another fantasy read that I did love and enjoyed. I could read this book over and over again.

Blue is kindhearted in the book. Only think of others then herself. Must do everything by the book and hide her magic. I like how she helps run shop with her father, and  how involved she is with the people. She good friends with the royals also. When her father passed away, he life changes. Now an evil witch lurking in the kingdom, and Blue must try really hard to hide her secrets.

Kellan the crown prince. Always seems to be getting into trouble and not taking his prince duties seriously. You can say he is a handful and get on Blue’s nerves a lot in the book. It fun watching Blue and Kellan butt heads all the time. When an evil witch on the loose, Will Kellan be able to step up as ruler?

I’m not a huge Cinderella a fan. Yet I did love this retelling of it. Bloodspell was so action packed, unpredictable. The cover is so pretty. This book is for fairytale retellings lovers and fantasy.

My Review:

Since I’m such am huge fantasy reader, I got to say Bloodleaf was such an great read. The storyline was epic and can relate to the characters in the book. Hope more people get a chance to discover this read.
