{Arc Review} Wilder Girls by Rory Power

Book Summary:

It’s been eighteen months since the Raxter School for Girls was put under quarantine. Since the Tox hit and pulled Hetty’s life out from under her.

It started slow. First the teachers died one by one. Then it began to infect the students, turning their bodies strange and foreign. Now, cut off from the rest of the world and left to fend for themselves on their island home, the girls don’t dare wander outside the school’s fence, where the Tox has made the woods wild and dangerous. They wait for the cure they were promised as the Tox seeps into everything.

But when Byatt goes missing, Hetty will do anything to find her, even if it means breaking quarantine and braving the horrors that lie beyond the fence. And when she does, Hetty learns that there’s more to their story, to their life at Raxter, than she could have ever thought true.

My Review:

Wilder Girls is a creepy read. I did liked the storyline in the book. I did not felt any connection with the characters in the book.

The book setting is in a boarding school. The vox virus is a deadly outbreak and the girls been quarantined for a long time. With no access to the outside world.

By chance, Hetty is elected boat girl. She must help bring in the supplies, and she learn learn some dark secrets that are hiding behind the gate. When her best friend goes missing, she will do anything to unlock those secrets and get her friend back.

This book was a short read and a ending leaving you with more answers. Wilder Girls was a little twisted and at times I was confused at what’s going on. The cover did draw my attention to the book and the summary sound promising.

You just have to wait and unlock Baxter School secrets on July 9th.
