Best friends are forged by fire. For Winona Olsen and Lucille Pryce, that fire happened the night they met outside the police station—both deciding whether to turn their families in.
Winona has been starving for life in the seemingly perfect home that she shares with her seemingly perfect father, celebrity weatherman Stormy Olsen. No one knows that he locks the pantry door to control her eating and leaves bruises where no one can see them.
Lucille has been suffocating beneath the needs of her mother and her drug-dealing brother, wondering if there’s more out there for her than disappearing waitress tips and generations of barely getting by.
One harrowing night, Winona and Lucille realize they can’t wait until graduation to start their new lives. They need out. Now. All they need is three grand, fast. And really, a stolen convertible to take them from Michigan to Las Vegas can’t hurt.
Hello Girls was such a good read. You get to embark on this adventurous roadtrip with two best friends. I enjoy the story and the characters in it.
Winona must hide what happens at home. Her father is all powerful and has complete control over her. She is waiting until after high school to run off with her new best friend, Lucelle.
Lucelle works hard to save money and taking care of her family. Things never comes easy for her, even when her brother start selling drugs. She is ready to hit the road with Winona after high school.
Things don’t go as plan for both girls and they are on the run. Trying to escape from their horrible past on the open road. They willing to do anything to get money and survive.
This book was a quick read. It deals with bad family life and trying to survive on the open road. I like the bond these two girls have for each other. They always looking out what’s best for each other and trying to get one step a head from their family finding them. It a dangerous roadtrip which it leaves to self discovery. If you looking for some friendship adventures, then this might be for you.
