I’m almost finish Blood Heir book. It very addictive read and hard to put down. If you love Anastasia retellings then this book be good for you.

Crown of Oblivion by Julie Eshbaugh
Book Summary:
Astrid is the surrogate for Princess Renya, which means she bears the physical punishment if Renya steps out of line. Astrid has no choice—she and her family are Outsiders, the lower class of people without magic and without citizenship.
But there is a way out of this life—competing in the deadly Race of Oblivion. To enter the race, an Outsider is administered the drug Oblivion, which wipes their memory clear of their past as they enter a new world with nothing to help them but a slip of paper bearing their name and the first clue. It’s not as simple as solving a puzzle, however—for a majority of the contestants, the race ends in death. But winning would mean not only freedom for Astrid, but citizenship and health care for her entire family. With a dying father to think of, Astrid is desperate to prevail.
From the beginning, the race is filled with twists and turns. One of them is Darius, a fellow racer Astrid meets but isn’t sure she can trust. Though they team up in the race, as Astrid’s memories begin to resurface, she remembers just who he was to her—a scorned foe who may want revenge. Astrid also starts to notice she has powers no Outsider should—which could help her win the race, but also make her a target if anyone finds out. With stakes that couldn’t be higher, Astrid must decide what is more important: risking her life to remember the mysteries of the past, or playing a cutthroat game in order to win her—and her family’s—freedom.
My Review:
To enter the race you must loose your memories, and follow the clues. The person who win gets citizenship for the whole family.
Astrid has no desire to enter the race. She has a comfortable life being the princess friend. Trying her best to keep the princess in line. Then on the day of the Racers of Oblivion festival things take a change for Astrid. She looses her father and her younger brother is taken away. Now with nothing holding her back, she enters the race to save her family.
The summary does give most of the story away. I like the idea that it set in kinda modern times. They have cars, trains and even motorcycles to steal along the way during the race. Of course you can’t really trust anyone. Astrid discover she has magic and suddenly the royal guards are hunting her down. What happen to her before she enter the race?
I like how the book is kinda like an hunger games feeling to it. Sadly it’s only a standalone fantasy read. I wish there was more to read at the end. The characters where fun to read about and can connect with how they are feeling. This book was well written and I did enjoy the action pack story.

Signing Events Week
Hello my readers,
Despite suffering a bad cough for nearly 3 weeks I been busy attending two awesome signing events. Sorry for late blog updates also. Just have been really sick and hardly reading much. Got some reviews upcoming hopefully soon. In meantime enjoy some fun pictures of my signing events.
I was lucky enough to get a chance to met Holly black and Brigid Kemmerer. It was such a fun event and very packed night. These two was lots of fun and excited to read both their books.

Tiffany Schmidt, she wrote Bookish Boyfriends books. It a cute contemporary read for book nerds. Wish more people read it.
Isabel Bandeira, she has three books release. The first book call Bookishly Ever After. Another adorable contemporary read. I’m in the middle reading it and enjoying it. Will a post review of it when finish.
Julie Eshbaugh, I was lucky enough to bump into at this event. She wrote Crown of Oblivion book. Which was very awesome fantasy stand alone. Will be writing up my review of that book this week.

Pretend She’s Here by Luanne Rice

My Review:
In Pretend She’s Here, the book is about grieving a lost of a friend and daughter. Some people grieve in their own way or grieve in a unhealthy way.
For Emily she dealing with the lost of her best friend. She has support from friends and family to help her out. It been a long time since she saw Lizzie’s family. She thought they long move on with life but she was wrong.
Lurking in the darkness of grief, Lizzie’s family been plotting and planning. They do whatever it takes to have their daughter back, even if it means to kidnap Emily. Making Emily pretend she is their dead daughter by force.
With lives threaten, Emily must become something she is not and slowly start loosing herself in the process. Will she be able to find a way to escape?
This book was such an emotional read. At times it was a little dark. You can really feel how each characters is handling the situation at hand. Overall I really liked this read and so engrossed in the story, also rooting for Emily. This is a tense read and has mental abuse. May be little sensitive to other readers.
If your into heavy read thrillers, then you may like Pretend She’s Here. Also you can check it out library if your unsure of this read.

My Review:
Every Stolen Breathe was such a very intense read. The storyline was something a little different. The book keeps you on the edge of your seat. I do like the characters in it also.
Lia in the book witness the death of her father by the swarm. The swarm is a like a gang that goes around attacking random people. Lia thinks there was a motive on why the swarm kill him. She has a feeling her father was getting close to something big to take down the swarm. With her best friend help, she tries to seek answers before the swarm comes for her next.
This book was a quick read and action pack. I like how the main character has certain quirks like asthma and PTSD she working through. Lia is a tough cookie with dealing health issues while seeking out a dangerous gang. Her mom in the book a little over protected and just want her daughter safe and not end up like her father. You don’t know who to trust since the swarm can be anyone in public.

My Review:
Gravemaidens was such an addictive read. I had trouble putting the book down. The storyline was something different which I enjoy. Did like some of the characters in the book.
When a king on his deathbed, people are chosen as gravemaidens. They are to be put to death with the king. Then enter the underworld.
Kammani life is anything but easy. Always looking for the next meal, healing people and keeping family together. With her father always running off drunk, it up to her to heal his patients. With so much going on she neglects a guy friend attention or notice her sister need to be a gravemaiden.
When Kammani’s sister is chosen gravemaiden. It up to her to heal the king and save her.
This book was a fast pace story. I like the world building idea to it. I like the way Kammani always looking out for her family. She puts to much on her plate and don’t pay attention to the people around her. Gravemaiden recently came out so you guys might like it.

Sick Kids in Love by Hannah Moskowitz
Book Summary:

My Review:
I really did like the book Sick Kids in love. It was such a cute story about two kids who are really sick and try to be normal. The characters I did enjoy the book most of the time.
Isabel is dealing with a hidden disease that affects her joints all the time. She may look alright on the outside but inside she struggles a lot. She does a column of asking people random question for school. She acts fine on the outside even through she hurting. It’s always a consent struggle on her friends not understanding what’s it like for her. She has this no dating rule which get explain later on.
With lots on her plate she end up meeting Sasha. He has a rare disease call gauthier disease. Always in and out of the hospital and get strange symptoms of it. He has a big mouth and a good heart. Sasha will not let his disesse stop him from having fun, even it means flirting with Isabel. Will these tw8 be able to let go of their illnesses and enjoy life with each other?
The summary give most the book away. Can’t spoil much of the book for you. I like the idea of two sick people leaning on each other. It hard for normal to understand what goes on with a person. You must read and find out what happen to these two in the end. I really liked the story and hope you guys do also.
