{Arc Review} Diamond City by Francesca Flores

Book Summary:
Good things don’t happen to girls who come from nothing…unless they risk everything.
Fierce and ambitious, Aina Solís as sharp as her blade and as mysterious as the blood magic she protects. After the murder of her parents, Aina takes a job as an assassin to survive and finds a new family in those like her: the unwanted and forgotten.
Her boss is brutal and cold, with a questionable sense of morality, but he provides a place for people with nowhere else to go. And makes sure they stay there.
DIAMOND CITY: built by magic, ruled by tyrants, and in desperate need of saving. It is a world full of dark forces and hidden agendas, old rivalries and lethal new enemies.
To claim a future for herself in a world that doesn’t want her to survive, Aina will have to win a game of murder and conspiracy—and risk losing everything.

My Review:

Diamond City is a place where you can mine for magic. A place of thieves and assassins run around.

Aina is a orphan, living off the streets. She is taken in to be train as an assassin. She always trying to work off her debts and live a simple life. On her last assassin job, things don’t go as plan. Now Aina is on the run. With a bounty now on her head, she forms an unlikely ally to help finish the job or go into hiding..

This book starts off action packed. I did enjoy the storyline of diamond city. It seems like a scary place to visit. Always have to watch your back or take care of yourself. Aina in the book comes off ruthless a bit. She does have a soft side, but afraid to show it.

Diamond City recently came out this week. If your looking for a new fantasy ride, then check it out.

Lie to Me by Kaitlin Ward

Book Summary:
Ever since Amelia woke up in the hospital, recovering from a near-death fall she has no memory of, she’s been suspicious. Her friends, family, and doctors insist it was an accident, but Amelia is sure she remembers being pushed. Then another girl is found nearby — one who fell, but didn’t survive. Amelia’s fears suddenly feel very real, and with the help of her new boyfriend, Liam, she tries to investigate her own horrific ordeal. But what is she looking for, exactly? And how can she tell who’s trustworthy, and who might be — must be — lying to her?
The closer Amelia gets to the truth, the more terrifying her once orderly, safe world becomes. She’s determined to know what happened, but if she doesn’t act fast, her next accident might be her last.

My Review:

A girl who was found unconscious by the river bank. She is lucky to just be alive as reports of another girl found dead almost the same spot.

Amelia is recovering the best as she can. She can’t seem to remember what happen that day. Her best friend was the one that found her. Everyone thinks she might have try to kill herself, but she has a nagging feeling that something more sinister going on.

Her hest friend acting weird, then the guy who hates her brother take a notice in her. Amelia getting strange messages to leave it be. Who can she really trust, when the people close to her seem to be lying to her.

This book was pretty good. The cover I do like a lot, so breathtaking and pretty. Amelia was lucky a tree stop her fall and from going in that water to drown. The book may be a little predictable at times for some readers. It kept me entertained until the very end. This book is very short read.

If your in mood for a good mystery, then check out Lie to Me.

Three Things I Know are True by Betty Culley

Book Summary:
The reminder is always there—a dent on the right side of Jonah’s forehead. The spot you’d press when you felt a headache coming on. The bullet tore away bone, the way dynamite blasts rock—leaving a soft crater.
Life changes forever for Liv when her older brother, Jonah, accidentally shoots himself with his best friend Clay’s father’s gun. Now Jonah needs round-the-clock care just to stay alive, and Liv seems to be the only person who can see that her brother is still there inside his broken body.
With Liv’s mom suing Clay’s family, there are divisions in the community that Liv knows she’s not supposed to cross. But Clay is her friend, too, and she refuses to turn away from him—just like she refuses to give up on Jonah.

My Review:

Three Things I know is True is a game that Clay, Jonan and Liv used to play all the time. Then one day everything changes for the three friends.

Liv is trying to keep balance between school and taking care of Jonah. After his accident, she became like his care giver. Learning from the nurses on how to ease her brother pain. She still a kid and should be living her life not worry about the stress of taking care of Jonah. With her mom so busy working and making sure Clay gets what her deserve on what happen.

Clay and Jonah were playing around in the attic one day. When Jonah found a gun and wants to play with it, he accidentally shot himself in head. Clay and his family are trouble for having a gun in the house and the lines are cross on who was right and wrong. Lucky for him, Liv sneaks out to see him to play their game. They just want to try to move on what happen and try to make sense of it all.

This book was emotional roller coaster between the characters. The details on how badly Jonah was shot in head, was well written I thought. You feel so bad for him, can’t move and cries at night for his sister. Then Liv will do anything to keep her brother with her and have Clay there also. I don’t think she blames Clay for the accident. She just wants everything like it should be before the gun went off. The book is written weird at first, but kinda got use to it.

Hopefully things work out in the end.

Ghosts has a way of haunting the living. Some ghost can be evil, while others can be good. Some just want their story to tell and move on. Not everyone believes in ghosts.

I could get lost in the stories she tells and fall in love with all the characters she makes. I really like Veronica in the book, she hides how much she hurting from tumor. She acts like nothing is wrong and still live a normal a life. Sawyer I do love him in the book. I like his story and how kindhearted he can be at times. They both grow on you in the book.

Jamie Turner is a quiet sophomore, struggling with depression.
The pair soon realizes that they can be their true selves with each other, and their unlikely friendship develops into something so much more. But neither Jamie nor David can bring themselves to reveal the secrets that weigh most heavily on their hearts—and their time for honesty may be running out.

My Review:

It not easy dealing with a invisible illness, especially when your in high school.

David is the popular guy at school. He has good grades and has a supportive girlfriend. On the outside you never would never know he was fighting a deadly disease, cystic fibrosis. He always putting up a brave in front of his friends and try not to let his illness defy him. Now he is trap in the hospital, as his illness gotten worse. Slowly he starts to rethink his life choices, and hope his friends and family will be there for him in the end.

Jamie is mostly anti social. She suffers from depression and a bit of anxiety after a tragic event that has happen to her. Her mother force her to work at the hospital and be more social. There she meets David. Somehow David and Jamie form a connection with each other. Also they confide into each other on secrets they hardly tell anyone.

Once David leaves the hospital. Will he and Jamie connection with each stick or they go back to their normal lives at school?

This book was so good and emotional read to me. There some sensitive talk on mental health in it. I think it was well written the story. I love the interactions between David and Jamie. They seem like the prefect fit. They both seem to come out if their shell a bit and standing up what they believe in. This book recently came out and should be check out.

If you like stories like Five Feet Apart and A fault in the Stars, then you will enjoy Just Breathe.

Keystone by Katie Delahanty

Book Summary:
When Ella Karman debuts on the Social Stock Exchange, she finds out life as a high-profile “Influencer” isn’t what she expected. Everyone around her is consumed by their rankings, in creating the smoke and mirrors that make them the envy of the world.
But then Ella’s best friend betrays her, her rankings tank, and she loses—everything.
Leaving her old life behind, she joins Keystone, a secret school for thieves, where students are being trained to steal everything analog and original because something—or someone—is changing history to suit their needs.
Partnered with the annoyingly hot—and utterly impossible—Garrett Alexander, who has plenty of his own secrets, Ella is forced to return to the Influencer world, while unraveling a conspiracy that began decades ago.
One wrong move and she could lose everything—again.

My Review:

Keystone is a place where you are disconnected from the world. You learn the art of the heist and to become anyone you want to. A school for learning to be the best thief.

Ella life kinda blew up in her face. When tragic strikes her friends on a boat, she becomes someone new. Now learn at a school of thieves. It kinda hard to do when the pass has a way of catching up with you.

She has the skill of good instincts. Ella can act her out of anything and be prefect fit to train at Keystone. She becomes a new person and hopefully can leave the past behind, if Garrett will let her.

This book was so good. I so engrossed in the story and world building. The world is pretty neat in the book. You have life online and being watch all the time. You must learn to become popular in order to make it big. You can become discounted and disappear from the spotlight if you don’t follow the rules.

I likes the interactions with Garrett and Ella. It was fun when they always bumping heads, yet they feel something for each other. They both have there own secrets at keystone. Ella and Garrett are both very skill and must work together to pass a test.

Looking for a good original heist story, Then enter the world of Keystone.

In a city where a pigeon is a master of disguise.

Rock is just not just your average pigeon, he can has a special ability to dress up as anything. Someone takes notice of it and takes him under his wings. Now Rock has a group of friends with powers to fight crime.

This was a cute middle grade book. The graphic to the novel was pretty neat. I enjoy the little story. It was nice seeing Rock grow a bit in the book. In the beginning he seem alone, but now see him master his ability and accept where he belong. It was a fun read and prefect for every age.
