What I am Reading Monday.

Here is my tbr for this week.

Summary:

Everyone in Devil’s Lake knows the three golden Malloy sisters—but one of them is keeping a secret that will turn their little world inside out….

No one knows exactly what happened to Kit in the woods that night—all they have are a constellation of facts: icy blue lips and fingers cold to the touch, a lacy bra, an abandoned pick-up truck with keys still in the ignition. Still, Tessa, even in her fog of grief, is certain that her sister’s killer wasn’t Boyd, the boy next door whom they’ve all loved in their own way. There are too many details that don’t add up, too many secrets still tucked away.

But no matter how fiercely she searches for answers, at the core of that complicated night is a truth that’s heartbreakingly simple.

Told in lush, haunting prose, Frozen Beauty is a story of the intoxicating power of first love, the deep bonds of sisterhood, and a shocking death that will forever change the living.

Summary:

Claire has always wanted to work with superheroes, from collecting Warrior Nation cards as a kid to drafting “What to Say to a Hero” speeches in her diary. Now that she’s landed a coveted internship with the Chicago branch of Warrior Nation, Claire is ready to prove she belongs, super or not. But complicating plans is the newest WarNat hero, Girl Power (aka Joy), who happens to be egotistical and self-important . . . and pretty adorable.

Bridgette, meanwhile, wants out of WarNat. After years of dating the famous Vaporizer (aka Matt), she’s sick of playing second, or third, or five-hundredth fiddle to all the people-in-peril in the city of Chicago. Of course, once Bridgette meets Claire-who’s clearly in need of a mentor and wingman-giving up WarNat becomes slightly more complicated. It becomes a lot more complicated when Joy, Matt, and the rest of the heroes go missing, leaving only Claire and Bridgette to save the day.

Summary:

Just because you love someone doesn’t mean you know them.

Nina Garrity learned that the hard way after discovering that her missing husband, Glen, had been leading a double life with another woman. But Glen’s gone–presumably drowned while fishing on his boat–so she can’t confront him about the affair or any of his other misdeeds. A year and a half after the accident, Nina considers herself a widow, even though the police never found a body. Following a chance encounter with Simon Fitch, a teacher from her daughter Maggie’s middle school, Nina finds love again and has hopes of putting her shattered life back together.

Simon, a widower still grieving the suicide of his first wife, has found his dream girl in Nina. His charm and affections help break through to a heart hardened by betrayal. Nina’s teenage son, Connor, embraces Simon as the father he wishes his dad could have been, but Maggie sees a far darker side to this new man in their lives. Even Nina’s good friends wonder if Simon is supremely devoted–or dangerously possessive.

But Nina is committed, not only to her soon-to-be new husband but also to resuming her former career as a social worker. Before she can move forward, however, Nina must first clear her conscience that she’s not making another terrible choice in a man. In doing so, she will uncover the shocking truth: the greatest danger to her, and her children, are the lies people tell themselves.

{Arc Review} Sparrow by Mary Cecilia Jackson

Book Summary:
There are two kinds of people on the planet. Hunters and prey
I thought I would be safe after my mother died. I thought I could stop searching for new places to hide. But you can’t escape what you are, what you’ve always been.
My name is Savannah Darcy Rose.
And I am still prey.
Though Savannah Rose―Sparrow to her friends and family―is a gifted ballerina, her real talent is keeping secrets. Schooled in silence by her long-dead mother, Sparrow has always believed that her lifelong creed―“I’m not the kind of girl who tells”―will make her just like everyone else: Normal. Happy. Safe. But in the aftermath of a brutal assault by her seemingly perfect boyfriend Tristan, Sparrow must finally find the courage to confront the ghosts of her past, or lose herself forever…

My Review:

What happens when you think you your dating the prefect guy?

Sparrow is getting her life together after her mother’s death. She loves to dance, and tries to be the prefect daughter. Through inside she still harbors trauma after her mom’s death.

Then a chance encounter, she almost gets hit by Tristan car. The most popular boy in school. Somehow they click and started dating. Instantly you see a change in Sparrow how fearful she becomes of him. Will she be able to speak up before it’s to late?

This book deals with sensitive topic on abuse mentally and physically. The main character deals with a lot from her past and now. She is good keeping secrets about her mother and her new boyfriend. Inside she blames herself for what’s been happening to her. In the end hopefully she learns and grow from all this.

I enjoy Lucas point of view in the book. He is Sparrow best friend and very protective of her. They been having fights a lot since he wants her to open up with the truth with Tristan. He struggles so much trying to help her before things get out of hand.

Sparrow is a very good read. It get very intense sometimes and leaves you wanting more. I was hooked with the book and I finish it in one night.

Sparrow recently came out, you might want to put it on your tbr.

What I’m Reading Monday

Summary:

My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods…or monsters. I still can’t decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.

Then there’s Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn’t felt anything for a hundred years. But there’s something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what’s broken in me.

Which could spell death for us all.

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I’m wondering if I was brought here intentionally—as the bait.

Come out April 7th, 2020

Bella is enjoying it so far.

{Arc Review} All Your Twisted Secrets by Diana Urban

Book Summary:
Welcome to dinner, and again, congratulations on being selected. Now you must do the selecting.
What do the queen bee, star athlete, valedictorian, stoner, loner, and music geek all have in common? They were all invited to a scholarship dinner, only to discover it’s a trap. Someone has locked them into a room with a bomb, a syringe filled with poison, and a note saying they have an hour to pick someone to kill … or else everyone dies.
Amber Prescott is determined to get her classmates and herself out of the room alive, but that might be easier said than done. No one knows how they’re all connected or who would want them dead. As they retrace the events over the past year that might have triggered their captor’s ultimatum, it becomes clear that everyone is hiding something. And with the clock ticking down, confusion turns into fear, and fear morphs into panic as they race to answer the biggest question: Who will they choose to die?

My Review:

What happens when 6 teens trapped in a room with a bomb and have to chose one to kill?

Amber love playing music but things change after her sister death. She withdrew a bit from her friends. When a chance to produce a play with original music, she become friend with the popular girl. Amber so desperate to have the play be preform, she changes a bit. Also blind how much abuse her best friend is having.

When thing blows over with the popular group, a chance for a scholarship opens up. Forcing Amber and some unlikely people fighting for their lives. Who will survive in the end?

This book was pretty much fun. Kinda like mean girls, plus a twisted take on The Breakfast Club. Each character is either you love them or hate them. I enjoy the back story and the secrets spill with them. It nice how each character is all connected with each other. This twist of it was very good and shocking. I had trouble putting this read down and it was a thrill ride.

If your in the mood for a new mystery, then read All Your Twisted Secrets. Recently it came out this week.

Happy Reading!

Stay safe you guys and keep reading books.

What I am Reading Monday

Hope everyone is saving safe out there.

Will try to get more reviews in.

Summary:

Tiffany Templeton is tough. She dresses exclusively in black, buys leather jackets that are several sizes too big, and never backs down from a fight. She’s known in her tiny Montana town as Tough Tiff, and after her shoplifting arrest and a stint in a reform school, the nickname is here to stay.

But when she comes back home, Tiffany may not be the same old Tough Tiff that everybody remembers. Her life is different now: her mother keeps her on an even shorter leash than before, she meets with a probation officer once a month, and she’s still grieving her father’s recent death.

As Tiffany navigates her new life and learns who she wants to be, she must also contend with an overbearing best friend, the geriatric cast of a high-maintenance drama production, her first boyfriend, and a town full of eccentric neighbors—not to mention a dark secret she’s been keeping about why the ex-football coach left town.

The Vanishing Deep by Astrid Scholte

Book Summary:
Seventeen-year-old Tempe was born into a world of water. When the Great Waves destroyed her planet, its people had to learn to survive living on the water, but the ruins of the cities below still called. Tempe dives daily, scavenging the ruins of a bygone era, searching for anything of value to trade for Notes. It isn’t food or clothing that she wants to buy, but her dead sister’s life. For a price, the research facility on the island of Palindromena will revive the dearly departed for twenty-four hours before returning them to death. It isn’t a heartfelt reunion that Tempe is after; she wants answers. Elysea died keeping a terrible secret, one that has ignited an unquenchable fury in Tempe: Her beloved sister was responsible for the death of their parents. Tempe wants to know why.
But once revived, Elysea has other plans. She doesn’t want to spend her last day in a cold room accounting for a crime she insists she didn’t commit. Elysea wants her freedom and one final glimpse at the life that was stolen from her. She persuades Tempe to break her out of the facility, and they embark on a dangerous journey to discover the truth about their parents’ death and mend their broken bond. But they’re pursued every step of the way by two Palindromena employees desperate to find them before Elysea’s time is up–and before the secret behind the revival process and the true cost of restored life is revealed.

My Review:

A world filled with water and hidden secrets.

Tempe is all alone when her parents and sister passed away. She learn a shocking secret about her sister, so she will do whatever it takes to relieve her and get answers.

What was Elysea doing on the day her parents disappeared and how did she really die?

Lor who works in the basement of the revival place. He has his secrets why he keeps to himself and likes it better that way. For a flavor from his only friend, he helps him out for the day. He is in charge of over seeing Elysea revival.

When Tempe escape with her dead sister, Lor is in for a big adventure.

I really did enjoy the storyline a lot. It was something so original and different. The characters are very likeable and fun when the interact with each other. Tempe is very smart and willing to do whatever it takes to get answers. Elysea trying to comes to terms what happen, that she dead. She tries hard to remember that night and don’t want anyone in trouble for escaping. Lor not very good talking with people, he just don’t his friend to get in trouble. Plus he hiding some secrets about the revival.

Lor, Tempe, and Elysea set on an adventure on the high seas. If they don’t end up killing each other.

This book was very hard to review and explain so I did the best I can. I love the world building and everything. Even the cover is so pretty.

Happy Reading!!!

Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon

Book Summary:
Will the princess save the beast?
For Princess Jaya Rao, nothing is more important than family. When the loathsome Emerson clan steps up their centuries-old feud to target Jaya’s little sister, nothing will keep Jaya from exacting her revenge. Then Jaya finds out she’ll be attending the same elite boarding school as Grey Emerson, and it feels like the opportunity of a lifetime. She knows what she must do: Make Grey fall in love with her and break his heart. But much to Jaya’s annoyance, Grey’s brooding demeanor and lupine blue eyes have drawn her in. There’s simply no way she and her sworn enemy could find their fairy-tale ending…right?
His Lordship Grey Emerson is a misanthrope. Thanks to an ancient curse by a Rao matriarch, Grey knows he’s doomed once he turns eighteen. Sequestered away in the mountains at St. Rosetta’s International Academy, he’s lived an isolated existence—until Jaya Rao bursts into his life, but he can’t shake the feeling that she’s hiding something. Something that might just have to do with the rose-shaped ruby pendant around her neck…
As the stars conspire to keep them apart, Jaya and Grey grapple with questions of love, loyalty, and whether it’s possible to write your own happy ending.

My Review:

A feud between two families, who will come out on top in the end?

Princess Jaya is on a misson. She transfer to a school where her enemy goes with her sister. Jaya is out for revenge to protect her sister from a scandal she think Lordship Grey has something to do with it. Since Emerson and Rao has a long feud so it safe to assume him starting all the drama. When Jaya bumps into Grey, she sees a human being, not this monster people make him out this be.

Will Jaya get her revenge she seeks or will have a change of heart?

Grey always kept to himself. Everyone always wants to hang with him, but he is like a close book. He believes in the curse of his family. Rao has curse Emerson and when the last rose petal fall the Emerson heir is to die. That is what Grey always thought that he meant to die and be alone forever.

Then he bumps into Jaya and his life changes a bit. Slowly coming out of his shell and trying a way to break the curse. Is Jaya the one who can save him?

This book was a cute retelling of Beauty and the beast. It deals with family issues and curses. Jaya is tore doing what’s right by her family and being happy for herself. Grey is fighting a curse by himself while his father blames him for everything even his mother death. They both deal with so many issues almost the same. I like watching them grow in the book and learning to be themselves more. Will it be enough to break the family curse?

If your into books like Beauty and beast and a little bit of Romeo and Juilet since it deals with a family feud, then you into a treat with this book.

Happy Reading!!!
