{Arc Review} I Killed Zoe Spanos by Kit Frick

Book Summary:
This gripping thriller follows two teens whose lives become inextricably linked when one confesses to murder and the other becomes determined to uncover the real truth no matter the cost.
What happened to Zoe won’t stay buried…
When Anna Cicconi arrives to the small Hamptons village of Herron Mills for a summer nanny gig, she has high hopes for a fresh start. What she finds instead is a community on edge after the disappearance of Zoe Spanos, a local girl who has been missing since New Year’s Eve. Anna bears an eerie resemblance to Zoe, and her mere presence in town stirs up still-raw feelings about the unsolved case. As Anna delves deeper into the mystery, stepping further and further into Zoe’s life, she becomes increasingly convinced that she and Zoe are connected–and that she knows what happened to her.
Two months later, Zoe’s body is found in a nearby lake, and Anna is charged with manslaughter. But Anna’s confession is riddled with holes, and Martina Green, teen host of the Missing Zoe podcast, isn’t satisfied. Did Anna really kill Zoe? And if not, can Martina’s podcast uncover the truth?

My Review:

What happens when your dream job turns out to be a big mystery?

Anna just land this awesome babysitting job for the summer. She gets away from her life for a little bit. All Anna wants to do is just relax by the pool. Then one day people start mistaking her Zoe Spanos. Zoe has been missing for a long time. What’s the weird connection between Zoe and Anna?

The book summary gives most the book away. I really did enjoyed this book and the storyline. It was more of a guessing game on what’s going on. There are some point of views of the characters and twists towards the end.

Anna I did like the book. She gets to enjoy the Hamptons for the summer. Having a dream vacation to think about what to do next with her life. I wish to get away also on vacation for the summer. Suddenly Anna starts loosing it and getting lost with Zoe story. She listens to the podcast her best friend made, she starts having memory lost and keep thinking of Zoe a lot. It makes you think has Anna lost her mind. Kinda feel bad for her, when everyone starts staring at her and thinking she is Zoe.

I Killed Zoe Spanos just came out today. It the perfect summer mystery read of the year I thought.

{Arc Review} Kinder Poison by Natalie Mae

Book Summary:
Zahru has long dreamed of leaving the kingdom of Orkena and having the kinds of adventures she’s only ever heard about in stories. But as a lowly Whisperer, her power to commune with animals means that her place is serving in the royal stables until the day her magic runs dry.
All that changes when the ailing ruler invokes the Crossing: a death-defying race across the desert, in which the first of his heirs to finish—and take the life of a human sacrifice at the journey’s end—will ascend to the throne and be granted unparalleled abilities.
With all of the kingdom abuzz, Zahru leaps at the chance to change her fate if just for a night by sneaking into the palace for a taste of the revelry. But the minor indiscretion turns into a deadly mistake when she gets caught up in a feud between the heirs and is forced to become the Crossing’s human sacrifice. Zahru is left with only one hope for survival: somehow figuring out how to overcome the most dangerous people in the world.

My Review:

Zahru always wanted to see the world, but she gets caught up in a deadly race and sibling rivalry.

Zahru has the power to talk to animals. She is known as a whisper and help her father out with the animals. She longs for a life outside the vet life. One night her and her best friend sneaks in to see the crossing. A race with royal siblings complete for the throne. A mistaken identity leads Zahru onto the wrong path. She become a human sacrifice and caught up in a huge sibling rivalry.

This book was such a magical read. I really did love it. The storyline was breathe taking. The siblings are ruthless, and you have no clue who to trust. Zahru in the book is to kind to be caught up in between the fighting and saving her life. She must use her wits to save her life and maybe get through to the sibling on how they should rule.

Kinder Poison is pretty much action pack, ruthless and not sure who can trust. This book recently came out not to long ago. Looking for a new fantasy series, then your in for a treat.

{Arc Review} The Betrothed by Kiera Class

Book Summary:
When King Jameson declares his love for Lady Hollis Brite, Hollis is shocked—and thrilled. After all, she’s grown up at Keresken Castle, vying for the king’s attention alongside other daughters of the nobility. Capturing his heart is a dream come true.
But Hollis soon realizes that falling in love with a king and being crowned queen may not be the happily ever after she thought it would be. And when she meets a commoner with the mysterious power to see right into her heart, she finds that the future she really wants is one that she never thought to imagine.

My Review:

Being Betrothed to a king, is not all that it seems.

Hollis is thrill the king has taken an interest her. Her family and friends living the good life. It’s every girl dream to become the kings eye candy. Hollis soon learn being a queen may not be as glamorous as it seems. Along the way, she has eyes for another man. Will she be able to follow her heart?

The Betrothed was such a slow pace read. The cover is very pretty looking. I don’t have a favorite character. I thought the whole relationship stuff with the king and the affair kinda moved to fast. The whole love triangle mess did not feel real. Everything was rush with the characters stories I thought the book was just an okay read. The ending did make me curious on what will happen next.

I suggest if you really want to read, get it the library first.

From the science museum to an amusement park, from New York City to London, Lulu learns one thing is for sure: love is the biggest trip of all.

My Review:

Four Day of You and Me was the prefect summer read. The storyline was so cute and enjoy the characters interactions with each other.

I like how the story setting is set on fun school trips. Also like how it flash forwards to the trips and then flash back leading up to what happen with the main characters.

Lulu and Alex has a this type of love/hate relationship since the beginning they saw each other. Which I like those type of reads. It was fun at times how they act towards each other. This was a fun and enjoyable read

The cover I liked also. It was pretty cute pink cover the book. You can see the main characters on it and how they act towards each other on it.

Four Days of You and Me recently came out and prefect for anyone needs a light read.

The Easy Part of Impossible by Sarah Tomp

Book Summary:
After an injury forces Ria off the diving team, an unexpected friendship with Cotton, a guy on the autism spectrum, helps her come to terms with the abusive relationship she’s been in with her former coach.
Ria Williams was an elite diver on track for the Olympics. As someone who struggled in school, largely due to her ADHD, diving was the one place Ria could shine. But while her parents were focused on the trophies, no one noticed how Coach Benny’s strict rules and punishments controlled every aspect of Ria’s life. The harder he was on her, the sharper her focus. The bigger the bruise, the better the dive. Until a freak accident at a meet changes everything. Just like that, Ria is handed back her life, free of Benny.
To fill her now-empty and aimless days, Ria rekindles a friendship with Cotton, a guy she used to know back in elementary school. With Cotton, she’s able to open up about what Benny would do to her, and through Cotton’s eyes, Ria is able to see it for what it was: abuse. Then Benny returns, offering Ria a second chance with a life-changing diving opportunity. But it’s not hers alone—Benny’s coaching comes with it. The thought of being back under his control seems impossible to bear, but so does walking away. How do you separate the impossible from the possible when the one thing you love is so tangled up in the thing you fear most?

My Review:

What if someone makes you quit with something you love to do?

Ria always love diving. That’s the only thing she knows how to do. She has put up with the mental and physical abuse from her coach for years. Then one day she gets scare and end quitting. Mostly she tries to keep what happen to herself, even if she still misses diving. When a boy next door seems to open herself up more to new possibilities.

Will she be able to find the courage to confront her couch mistreatment?

This book was an emotional read. You get to feel how much Ria struggles with her choice of not diving. One hand she relives not seeing her coach and on the other hand she miss diving so much. I like the cover of the book with her underwater, looks like she trying to think on what’s the best thing to do. This book deals with sensitive topic of abuse mentally and physically.

Also I like Cotton there for Ria and kinda helps break her out of her shell a bit. He supports her and she can lean on him for anything. Hopefully he can help give her the courage she needs before it’s to late.

The Easy Part of Impossible is out now, you might really like the book. If your unsure reading it, then head to the library.

The Sound of Stars by Alechia Dow

Book Summary:
Can a girl who risks her life for books and an alien who loves forbidden pop music work together to save humanity?
Two years ago, a misunderstanding between the leaders of Earth and the invading Ilori resulted in the deaths of one-third of the world’s population.
Seventeen-year-old Janelle “Ellie” Baker survives in an Ilori-controlled center in New York City. Deemed dangerously volatile because of their initial reaction to the invasion, humanity’s emotional transgressions are now grounds for execution. All art, books and creative expression are illegal, but Ellie breaks the rules by keeping a secret library. When a book goes missing, Ellie is terrified that the Ilori will track it back to her and kill her.
Born in a lab, M0Rr1S (Morris) was raised to be emotionless. When he finds Ellie’s illegal library, he’s duty-bound to deliver her for execution. The trouble is, he finds himself drawn to human music and in desperate need of more. They’re both breaking the rules for love of art—and Ellie inspires the same feelings in him that music does.
Ellie’s—and humanity’s—fate rests in the hands of an alien she should fear. M0Rr1S has a lot of secrets, but also a potential solution—thousands of miles away. The two embark on a wild and dangerous road trip with a bag of books and their favorite albums, all the while making a story and a song of their own that just might save them both.

My Review:

When the aliens invade, they took everything away from the humans.

Ellie is a passionate reader and hid her books when the aliens took over. She helps her friends keep sane in a world with no music or books allow. When an unlikely alien discovers her secret, things turn upside for Ellie.

This book was a very fun read. I love the storyline and the characters how they all interact with each other. The cover is pretty amazing looking also. The book is set in the ruins of NYC. Which I been missing nyc since the lockdown.

Ellie I liked how she is a bookworm like me. Willing to risk saving books, then getting into trouble later. She really cares about her family a lot and has one good friend. Ellie always looking out for everyone. Then with a chance encounter with Morris everything she knows is about to change.

Morris is a ailen with feelings. He loves to listen and sing to music. Morris takes an interest in the human life and want to try to save them. He is very different than the others who want to destroy all humans life. Morris find Ellie secret library, and would do anything to protect her. Can Ellie trust a ailen?

With so much action pack chase, music and books this book will leave you wanting for more. Looking for an original take of a scifi story, then your in luck. Check out Sound of Stars.

Last year her best friend Monica’s life was unceremoniously ruined by the most popular students at their high school, so this year Chloe plans to take each and every one of them down. She’s traded in her jeans and T-shirts for the latest designer clothes, erased anything on social media that would tie her to Monica (and blow her cover), and carefully figured out how she will befriend the members of the clique, find out their deepest and darkest secrets, and reveal them to the world.

The closer she gets to uncovering the secrets the in-crowd is determined to cover up, the more she realizes that she is going to have to choose between betraying her oldest friend or the boy who’s captured her heart.

My Review:

Clique Bait is on of those reads you will enjoy. It had such a mean girls vibe to it. Plus there so much high school drama that happening all at once. Some characters you will love or some you may hate.

Chole is the main character of the story. She always staying invisible at high school and don’t care about the cliques. Which makes her into a nice person. Her best friend goes off having a blast with the popular crowd. When something bad happen to her, it’s up to Chole to get revenge.

I like hie Chole in the book still misses her best friend after the big falling out they had. She willing to help her out and get back at the popular kids with an unlikely ally. Chole gets so hook on revenge she start hurting some friends around her. Will she be able to fix things or has she gone far into deep?

This book was another fast pace read. Perfect fun for the summer. The cover is all pink and cute when opening it up. Lots of drama, maybe a little romance, but it’s high school. Lots of nice twists towards the end which I enjoy.

Looking for a pick me up read, then check out Clique Bait!!
