Praise for YOU WERE MADE FOR ME

“An enjoyable rom-com.” ―Kirkus Reviews

“Plenty of early 2000s rom-com vibes and lighthearted mishaps… Guillaume’s cinematic story weaves together beloved romantic comedy tropes touched with magic―or is it science?―and drops them into a fresh, contemporary setting. Despite the playful tone, this isn’t without nuance, taking on serious topics such as male body image, friendship, and asexuality.” ―Booklist

YA author Jenna Guillaume is back with a fun and modern feminist twist on the 1985 pop cult film Weird Science.

Sixteen-year-old Katie Camilleri can’t believe she’s accidentally created a teenage boy. A boy six-feet tall with floppy hair and eyes like the sky on a clear summer’s day. A boy whose lips taste like cookie dough and whose skin smells like springtime. A boy completely devoted to Katie. But silly musings and kitchen antics with her best friend, Libby, have definitely taken a whimsical twist into something bigger than Katie could have ever daydreamed. Turns out the consequences of fumbling a human being into existence are rather complicated. More importantly, does Guy, the golden Adonis Katie’s created, like her because he wants to, or because he has to? And will he be Katie’s very first kiss?

From the author of What I Like About Me comes a hilarious feminist twist on a classic narrative, loaded with laughs, mishaps, and plenty of 80s and 90s pop-culture callbacks. Jenna Guillaume’s entertaining romantic comedy novel features a humorous and relatable voice and will appeal to fans of Jenny Han.

What I’m Reading Monday

Summary:

The bestselling author of the Dead Is… series is back with a snarky, hilarious take on the vampire romance novel.

When my best friend Skyler told me about this party in the Hollywood Hills, I was less than enthused. As it turned out, my feelings were more than justified. That party ruined my life.

Tansy didn’t even want to go to the party. It’s hard enough living in one of your best friend’s shadows and secretly in love with your other best friend.

And now she’s leaving it a vampire.

Now her best friend Skyler is stuck on the road trip from hell, on tour as a groupie with a literal band of vamps. Tansy sets out with Vaughn, her other BFF turned maybe more, to save Skylar’s life and take down the band. But when they find themselves in the middle of a vampire war, will Tansy be able to make the ultimate sacrifice to save her friends?

Summary:

A princess isn’t supposed to fall for an evil sorceress. But in this darkly magical retelling of “Sleeping Beauty,” true love is more than a simple fairy tale.

Once upon a time, there was a wicked fairy who, in an act of vengeance, cursed a line of princesses to die. A curse that could only be broken by true love’s kiss.

You’ve heard this before, haven’t you? The handsome prince. The happily-ever-after.

Utter nonsense.

Let me tell you, no one in Briar actually cares about what happens to its princesses. Not the way they care about their jewels and elaborate parties and charm-granting elixirs. I thought I didn’t care, either.

Until I met her.

Princess Aurora. The last heir to Briar’s throne. Kind. Gracious. The future queen her realm needs. One who isn’t bothered that I am Alyce, the Dark Grace, abhorred and feared for the mysterious dark magic that runs in my veins. Humiliated and shamed by the same nobles who pay me to bottle hexes and then brand me a monster. Aurora says I should be proud of my gifts. That she . . . cares for me. Even though it was a power like mine that was responsible for her curse.

But with less than a year until that curse will kill her, any future I might see with Aurora is swiftly disintegrating—and she can’t stand to kiss yet another insipid prince. I want to help her. If my power began her curse, perhaps it’s what can lift it. Perhaps, together, we could forge a new world.

Nonsense again.

Because we all know how this story ends, don’t we? Aurora is the beautiful princess. And I—

I am the villain.

Be Dazzled by Ryan La Sala

Summary:
Who’s ready to sparkle??
Project Runway goes to Comic Con in an epic queer love story about creativity, passion, and finding the courage to be your most authentic self.
Raffy has a passion for bedazzling. Not just bedazzling, but sewing, stitching, draping, pattern making–for creation. He’s always chosen his art over everything–and everyone–else and is determined to make his mark at this year’s biggest cosplay competition. If he can wow there, it could lead to sponsorship, then art school, and finally earning real respect for his work. There’s only one small problem… Raffy’s ex-boyfriend, Luca, is his main competition.
Raffy tried to make it work with Luca. They almost made the perfect team last year after serendipitously meeting in the rhinestone aisle at the local craft store–or at least Raffy thought they did. But Luca’s insecurities and Raffy’s insistence on crafting perfection caused their relationship to crash and burn. Now, Raffy is after the perfect comeback, one that Luca can’t ruin.
But when Raffy is forced to partner with Luca on his most ambitious build yet, he’ll have to juggle unresolved feelings for the boy who broke his heart, and his own intense self-doubt, to get everything he’s ever wanted: choosing his art, his way.

My Review:

Be Dazzled was such a awesome read. I enjoyed every minute of it. Prefect for fans that love cons and cosplay. I love the storyline how they make the outfits for cons, and it has a little drama that goes behind it. The characters you can fall in love with.

Raffy has a passion for fashion like his mother. Sadly his mother don’t support his fashion dreams. Raffy has a unique taste in putting together cosplay outfits and dressing up in them. Have his own secret YouTube account. During one of his competitions he is force to pair up with his ex.

Raffy has lots on his plate hiding what he loves to do in life and hiding who he loves.

This book was a fast pace read. I did love how creative the cosplayers do their outfits for cons. Also enjoy behind the scenes on how hard it is to make that prefect outfit. Be Dazzled had me missing NYCC so badly. I loved the people who dress up and everything else.

This book is prefect for any con lovers at there and enjoy some drama.

Happy Reading!!!!

What I’m Reading Monday

Summary:

Isda does not exist. At least not beyond the opulent walls of the opera house.

Cast into a well at birth for being one of the magical few who can manipulate memories when people sing, she was saved by Cyril, the opera house’s owner. Since that day, he has given her sanctuary from the murderous world outside. All he asks in return is that she use her power to keep ticket sales high—and that she stay out of sight. For if anyone discovers she survived, Isda and Cyril would pay with their lives.

But Isda breaks Cyril’s cardinal rule when she meets Emeric Rodin, a charming boy who throws her quiet, solitary life out of balance. His voice is unlike any she’s ever heard, but the real shock comes when she finds in his memories hints of a way to finally break free of her gilded prison.

Haunted by this possibility, Isda spends more and more time with Emeric, searching for answers in his music and his past. But the price of freedom is steeper than Isda could ever know. For even as she struggles with her growing feelings for Emeric, she learns that in order to take charge of her own destiny, she must become the monster the world tried to drown in the first place.

Summary:

We Were Liars meets Speak in this haunting, mesmerizing psychological thriller–a gender-flipped YA Great Gatsby–that will linger long after the final line

On wealthy Commodore Island, Fern is watching and waiting–for summer, for college, for her childhood best friend to decide he loves her. Then Ivy Avila lands on the island like a falling star. When Ivy shines on her, Fern feels seen. When they’re together, Fern has purpose. She glimpses the secrets Ivy hides behind her fame, her fortune, the lavish parties she throws at her great glass house, and understands that Ivy hurts in ways Fern can’t fathom. And soon, it’s clear Ivy wants someone Fern can help her get. But as the two pull closer, Fern’s cozy life on Commodore unravels: drought descends, fires burn, and a reckless night spins out of control. Everything Fern thought she understood–about her home, herself, the boy she loved, about Ivy Avila–twists and bends into something new. And Fern won’t emerge the same person she was.

An enthralling, mind-altering psychological thriller, Tell Me My Name is about the cost of being a girl in a world that takes so much, and the enormity of what is regained when we take it back.

My Review:

To those who have yet read Crave series. You may disregard this review.

Covet is book 3 of Crave series. I was lucky to receive a book box from publishers. I really love this book and enjoy jumping into this world again. So much drama this time around for Grace.

Grace just wants to hace a peacefully graduate with the guy she love. The problem with that she has no idea who she wants. She now mated to Hudson and her emotions all over the place. Not wanting to hurt either brothers she just drags them along. On top of that a war is coming. Grace may be the only one to save the school and must chose a guy. No pressure there, right?

This was a little more slow and get action pack towards the end. You see Grace more broken and having panic attacks. Lucky she has support from her friends and family. Grace just have to remember she is never alone. I always enjoy this world, you see more different characters at play here. Also you see some different creatures coming together. The covers to these books are awesome. I still enjoy this series better then twilight. There some fun times in the book while reading. When it comes to the ending, just have tissues ready.

Are you ready to head back to Katmere Academy?

Happy Reading!!

The Initial Insult by Mindy McGinnis

Summary:
Welcome to Amontillado, Ohio, where your last name is worth more than money, and secrets can be kept… for a price.
Tress Montor knows that her family used to mean something—until she didn’t have a family anymore. When her parents disappeared seven years ago while driving her best friend home, Tress lost everything. She might still be a Montor, but the entire town shuns her now that she lives with her drunken, one-eyed grandfather at what locals refer to as the “White Trash Zoo,” – a wild animal attraction featuring a zebra, a chimpanzee, and a panther, among other things.
Felicity Turnado has it all – looks, money, and a secret that she’s kept hidden. She knows that one misstep could send her tumbling from the top of the social ladder, and she’s worked hard to make everyone forget that she was with the Montors the night they disappeared. Felicity has buried what she knows so deeply that she can’t even remember what it is… only that she can’t look at Tress without having a panic attack.
But she’ll have to.
Tress has a plan. A Halloween costume party at an abandoned house provides the ideal situation for Tress to pry the truth from Felicity – brick by brick – as she slowly seals her former best friend into a coal chute. With a drunken party above them, and a loose panther on the prowl, Tress will have her answers – or settle for revenge.

My Review:

The Initial Insult was such a crazy mess which I love. The storyline was very intense at times. What happens when two best friends become enemies? I also like how creepy the cover looks with a panther on it. Which will be explain more in the book.

Tress had a good life and friends. Then one day her parents disappeared. Her life becomes a living hell. She becomes the poor girl at school. Also force to work at a zoo and do a dangerous side job. She keeps to self mostly. Holding in so much angry in what she lost, she blames her ex-friend Felicity.

Felicity is a good girl. She does everything her mother tells her to and raise to the top. The night Tress parents disappeared, she was there. Felicity don’t remember what happen and her parents rather have her move on then remember it. She hold on to so much guilt on that night, she still wants to help Tress. Even if Tress tries to hurt her.

I really love the point of views told in the book. Both characters seems they need a lot of help. I like the flashbacks of how the girls use to be friends, until Tress folks went missing. I feel bad for both girls in the book. Dealing with so much high school pressures and lost. I love how it was very detailed and well written. In a small town you got to have money to be popular. Lucky there a book two coming out, since the ending has so many unanswered questions.

If you in the mood for something mess up crazy, lots of high school drama, and full of twists, then check out The Initial Insult.

What Big Teeth by Rose Szabo

Summary:
Rose Szabo’s thrilling debut is a dark and thrilling novel about a teen girl who returns home to her strange, wild family after years of estrangement, perfect for fans of Wilder Girls.
Eleanor Zarrin has been estranged from her wild family for years. When she flees boarding school after a horrifying incident, she goes to the only place she thinks is safe: the home she left behind. But when she gets there, she struggles to fit in with her monstrous relatives, who prowl the woods around the family estate and read fortunes in the guts of birds.
Eleanor finds herself desperately trying to hold the family together — in order to save them all, Eleanor must learn to embrace her family of monsters and tame the darkness inside her.
Exquisitely terrifying, beautiful, and strange, this fierce gothic fantasy will sink its teeth into you and never let go.

My Review:

What Big is very extraordinary book. It’s kinda way out there and very different. I enjoyed the storyline of supernatural family living in a small town. As they try to be normal, while hiding there strange secrets from everyone. When Eleanor comes home after being gone for years, she stir the family up.

Eleanor did a unthinkable thing at her boarding school, now she comes home facing the consequences of her actions. She is not like her family, and have yet embrace her powers like them. One day, Eleanor just left holme, without a word. Now she tries to mend things with the family. As they must come together when one of their own passed away.

This book kinda reminds of The Dark Shadows, a very old soap opera. Both are kinda same story about creatures hiding in plain sight to fit. Of course there be some family drama and a lot of teeth. This read was very different and weird for me. Which I really did enjoy. Kinda slow pace story, but it did peck my interest until the very end. Also I love how creepy the cover is for What Big Teeth.

If your in for some family drama, and supernatural brings running around. Then you might like What Big Teeth.

Happy Reading!!!
