Tess Matheson only wants three things: time to practice her cello, for her sister to be happy, and for everyone else to leave her alone.
Instead, Tess finds herself working all summer at her boarding school library, shelving books and dealing with the intolerable patrons. The worst of them is Eliot Birch: snide, privileged, and constantly requesting forbidden grimoires. After a bargain with Eliot leads to the discovery of an ancient book in the library’s grimoire collection, the pair accidentally unleash a book-bound demon.
The demon will stop at nothing to stay free, manipulating ink to threaten those Tess loves and dismantling Eliot’s strange magic. Tess is plagued by terrible dreams of the devil and haunting memories of a boy who wears Eliot’s face. All she knows is to stay free, the demon needs her… and he’ll have her, dead or alive.
The Devil Make Three is such a prefect book to read for the fall. If your like me, you will end up reading it anytime of the year. This book has such a creepy vibe, while it is set in a library. Even the cover is so haunting and fitting for this read. I enjoyed everything in this book.
Tess likes to keep her head down and not get into any trouble. Also she must keep her sister in check at school. She works hard to enjoy playing her cello and making her sister in check. Then one day Eliot came into her life. He seems strange and very interested in magic book. When they enter a forbidden part of the library, crazy stuff starts happening to Tess.
This book starts out slow at first because you getting to know the characters. Once it picks you will be so engrossed. I like Eliot and Tess in the book and how the interact with each other. Of course they going to have a love hate relationship throughout the book. At times this book was a very intense and maybe you be scare of the dark. I really did love this book and could read it again every Halloween.
If you enjoy creepy book set in a library, then you will end up loving The Devil Makes Three.
