A Cinderella story with deadly stakes and thrilling twists.
Avery Grambs has a plan for a better future: survive high school, win a scholarship, and get out. But her fortunes change in an instant when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves Avery virtually his entire fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why–or even who Tobias Hawthorne is. To receive her inheritance, Avery must move into sprawling, secret passage-filled Hawthorne House, where every room bears the old man’s touch–and his love of puzzles, riddles, and codes.
Unfortunately for Avery, Hawthorne House is also occupied by the family that Tobias Hawthorne just dispossessed. This includes the four Hawthorne grandsons: dangerous, magnetic, brilliant boys who grew up with every expectation that one day, they would inherit billions. Heir apparent Grayson Hawthorne is convinced that Avery must be a con-woman, and he’s determined to take her down. His brother, Jameson, views her as their grandfather’s last hurrah: a twisted riddle, a puzzle to be solved. Caught in a world of wealth and privilege, with danger around every turn, Avery will have to play the game herself just to survive.
The Inheritance Games is like a modern day Cinderella. A girl who has nothing suddenly Inheritance millions from someone she don’t know. This was a very good mystery and I love everything about it. The characters where entertaining and is full of twists.
Avery is a very smart girl in the book. She lives out of her car and don’t ask for help. Mostly keep to self. Then one day a stranger shows up at school and she is a millionaire. She has no clue who this person was or why in charge. Avery must watch her back because the boys who supposed to inherited the money keeping an eye on her. Soon everything becomes a game and big questions will be, Who is Avery and why she gets everythong?
This book was very fast pace read. I love how it’s a series since that ending was crazy. I’m dying to read book now. I enjoy there a game with clues, to figure out the answers. Avery tries to team with the brothers and help solve the mystery on what’s going on. I had trouble putting book down. A little worry on what will happen in book two.
