My Review:

What happens when you move into a new home, with a dark past?

Tom suffers from high anxiety after dealing with his mom’s abusive boyfriends for years. This new place is supposed to be a fresh start for him. Then he noticed holes in the walls, creepy drawings and words Help Me. His new place might be hiding a dark secret. Lucky his new the last family there live next door. What secrets are they hiding or is it all in Tom’s head.

Lock the Doors was pretty good. I really enjoy the creepiness and the mystery of it. You can tell Tom has so much anxiety build up dealing with his own traumatic past. He has this hero complex since he could not help his mom. Tom tries hard to help Amy, but does she really need saving? Another book cover I have fallen in love with also. Very suspenseful book, full of crazy twists that will blow your mind.

Are ready to Lock the Doors and dive right in???

Full Flight by Ashley Schumacher

Summary:

Everyone else in the tiny town of Enfield, Texas calls fall football season, but for the forty-three members of the Fighting Enfield Marching Band, it’s contest season. And for new saxophonist Anna James, it’s her first chance to prove herself as the great musician she’s trying hard to be.

When she’s assigned a duet with mellophone player Weston Ryan, the boy her small-minded town thinks of as nothing but trouble, she’s equal parts thrilled and intimidated. But as he helps her with the duet, and she sees the smile he seems to save just for her, she can’t help but feel like she’s helping him with something too.

After her strict parents find out she’s been secretly seeing him and keep them apart, together they learn what it truly means to fight for something they love. With the marching contest nearing, and the two falling hard for one another, the unthinkable happens, and Anna is left grappling for a way forward without Weston.

A heartbreaking novel about finding your first love and what happens when it’s over too soon. Ashley Schumacher’s Full Flight is about how first love shapes us—even after it’s gone.

My Review:

A simple love story.

Anna is a good girl and is always doing what she is told. Then she took a chance to do a duet with Weston for band. Slowly their buddy relationship grows. With Anna parents against it and some friends are uncertain of their friendship. Is Weston really a bad boy everybody says?

Full Flight was such a cute read. I really did enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters. Really love how slow burn their romance blossoms over time. This book had some family drama and friends drama at first. Also there might a shocking twist within the book. 🤐 This was such a simple read about a growing relationship and giving a person a chance. It was so good I ended up reading it within a day. Looking forward for a quick read, then check out Full Flight.

Idol Gossip by Alexandra Leigh Young

Summary:

An inside look at the K-pop phenomenon, in a wry, punchy young-adult debut that probes cultural differences, sisterhood, and the minefield of fame.

Every Friday after school, dressed in their new South Korean prep-school uniforms — sweater vests, knee-highs, pleated skirts, and blazers — seventeen-year old Alice Choy and her little sister, Olivia, head to Myeongdong, brave a dank, basement-level stairwell full of graffiti, and slip into a noreabang. Back in San Francisco, when she still had friends and earthly possessions, Alice took regular singing lessons. But since their diplomat mom moved them to Seoul, she pours herself into karaoke, vamping it up in their booth to Lady Gaga while loyal Olivia applauds and howls with laughter. Alice lives for Fridays, but when an older woman stops her on their way out one day, handing Alice a business card with a bow, singing turns serious. Could the chance encounter really be her ticket to elite status at Top10 Entertainment’s Star Academy? With a little sisterly support, backed by one of the world’s top talent agencies, can Alice lead her group on stage before a stadium of 50,000 chanting fans — and just maybe strike K-pop gold? Not if a certain influential blogger and the anti-fans get their way.

Delicious gossip squares off with genuine heart in a debut about standing out and fitting in, dreaming big and staying true — for avid K-pop fans and those just discovering the worldwide cultural phenomenon.

My Review:

Are you ready for some K-pop?

Idol Gossip gets you the inside look what it takes to make it big. For the main character, Alice she has the voice. Alice get into star academy and must work very hard to fit in with everyone. With very little time before she must debut. A lot of pressure for one girl who was thrown in the world of K-pop. Willing to isolated herself from her band mate and family, she gets a lesson working together. Does Alice have what it takes to become an idol??

I sure do love any K-pop young adult reads so much. There some drama and very unpredictable on how it may end. Also I love the culture references in these books so much. You learn so much about the food, places and what it takes to be a pop star. The covers to the books are cute and fit the theme prefect. I could binge read lots of K-pops reads all the time. It just a fun world and always rooting for the main character. Also don’t forget the hot Korean guys in the books.

Looking for the new K-pop read, check out Idol Gossip.

League of Liars by Astrid Scholte

Summary:

In this fantasy thriller, four teens charged with murder and the illegal use of magic band together to devise the ultimate jailbreak. Perfect for fans of Six of Crows and How to Get Away with Murder.

Ever since his mother was killed, seventeen-year-old Cayder Broduck has had one goal–to see illegal users of magic brought to justice. People who carelessly use extradimensional magic for their own self-interest, without a care to the damage it does to society or those around them, deserve to be punished as far as Cayder is concerned. Because magic always has a price. So when Cayder lands a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to apprentice under a premier public defender, he takes it. If he can learn all the tricks of public defense, the better he’ll be able to dismantle defense arguments when he’s a prosecutor. Then he’ll finally be able to make sure justice is served.

But when he meets the three criminals he’s supposed to defend, it no longer seems so black and white. They’re teenagers, like him, and their stories are . . . complicated, like his. Vardean, the prison where Cayder’s new clients are incarcerated, also happens to be at the very heart of the horrible tear in the veil between their world and another dimension–where all magic comes from.

League of Liars is a dark and twisty mystery set in a richly-drawn world where nothing is as it seems, rife with magic, villains and danger.

My Review:

Welcome to a prison, where you can’t trust anyone.

Cayder I did like the book so much. He deals with so much in the beginning. Now he going behind his father’s back to work in a prison. Things are not what they seem in this prison, when he sees his sister getting put in there. Now he must break the rules and team up unlikely allies to save his sister.

League of Liars was such a awesome read. Sp many characters to fall in love with. Of course you can’t really trust anyone, since they all hiding something. Also I’m in love with the skull cover of the book. It pretty neat how the whole story is set in a prison most of the time. It was something different for me and I enjoyed it. This book was so much and love all the characters interact with other.

League of Liar recently came out, check it out.

What I’m Reading Monday

Adriana Russo is figure skating royalty.

With gold-medalist parents, and her older sister headed to the Olympics, all she wants is to live up to the family name and stand atop the ice dance podium at the Junior World Championships. But fame doesn’t always mean fortune, and their legendary skating rink is struggling under the weight of her dad’s lavish lifestyle. The only thing keeping it afloat is a deal to host the rest of the Junior Worlds team before they leave for France.

That means training on the same ice as her first crush, Freddie, the partner she left when her growth spurt outpaced his. For the past two years, he’s barely acknowledged her existence, and she can’t even blame him for it.

When the family’s finances take another unexpected hit, losing the rink seems inevitable until her partner, Brayden, suggests they let the world believe what many have suspected: that their intense chemistry isn’t contained to the ice. Fans and sponsors alike take the bait, but keeping up the charade is harder than she ever imagined. And training alongside Freddie makes it worse, especially when pretending with Brayden starts to feel very real.

As the biggest competition of her life draws closer and her family’s legacy hangs in the balance, Adriana is caught between her past and present, between the golden future she’s worked so hard for, and the one she gave up long ago

With the sweeping romance of Passenger and the dark fantasy edge of This Savage Song, this standout YA contemporary fantasy debut from Vanessa Len, is the first in a planned trilogy.

It should have been the perfect summer. Sent to stay with her late mother’s eccentric family in London, sixteen-year-old Joan is determined to enjoy herself. She loves her nerdy job at the historic Holland House, and when her super cute co-worker Nick asks her on a date, it feels like everything is falling into place.

But she soon learns the truth. Her family aren’t just eccentric: they’re monsters, with terrifying, hidden powers. And Nick isn’t just a cute boy: he’s a legendary monster slayer, who will do anything to bring them down.

As she battles Nick, Joan is forced to work with the beautiful and ruthless Aaron Oliver, heir to a monster family that hates her own. She’ll have to embrace her own monstrousness if she is to save herself, and her family. Because in this story . . .

. . . she is not the hero.

As Brie spends time with their mysterious leader, Finn, she struggles to resist his seductive charm.

My Review:

Time to journey to another Fae world.

When her sister gets sold off, she must adventure into the Far world to save her. Now caught between a world and wondering who she really trust. These Hollow Vows was so magical. I really did love the storyline and characters. Of course there going to be some hot faes to fall in love with. How evil can they be, when they look so hot? Also I do love this fairyloot edition of the book cover. I’m obsessed how pretty it is on the inside and outside.

Love Boat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen

Summary:

When eighteen-year-old Ever Wong’s parents send her from Ohio to Taiwan to study Mandarin for the summer, she finds herself thrust among the very over-achieving kids her parents have always wanted her to be, including Rick Woo, the Yale-bound prodigy profiled in the Chinese newspapers since they were nine—and her parents’ yardstick for her never-measuring-up life.

Unbeknownst to her parents, however, the program is actually an infamous teen meet-market nicknamed Loveboat, where the kids are more into clubbing than calligraphy and drinking snake-blood sake than touring sacred shrines.

Free for the first time, Ever sets out to break all her parents’ uber-strict rules—but how far can she go before she breaks her own heart?

My Review:

Welcome to the Loveboat!

Not a real boat, but a school where kids fall in love. The side character, Sophie can explain it better than me in book.

This book centers around Ever. Which I like in the book. She is a talented dancer and loves to teach it. Sadly her parents never approve of it and sent her off to school. Where she learns to come out her shell and break the rules. Learning the ropes of love, friendship and respecting family.

I really did fall in love with this book. Was in love with the culture and the characters in it. I’m a sucker for dance reads and things that happen in different countries. This book been sitting on my shelf forever and finally read it in on go. Ever is a good girl, but she make dumb mistakes in the book. You get the whole high school drama stuff going on.

Recently a companion book came out. It stars two of the side characters Sophie and Xavier. Which I did love Xavier in the book. He deals with abuse from father and learning disabilities. Sophie I kinda like in the book. She get into trouble with a abusive relationship and has a rocky friendship with Ever. Maybe in Loveboat, Reunion these two can be redeemed for there actions in the book.

Are you guys ready to jump in the Loverboat?

As she uncovers the secrets of Draycott, complete with a corrupt teacher, a golden boy who isn’t what he seems, and a blackmailer determined to get her thrown out, she’s not sure if she can trust anyone–especially when the threats against her take a deadly turn.

My Review:

Welcome to Draycott Academy.

Lia is very good at track and score a awesome scholarship. She tries to get her head low at school and not get into any trouble. Somehow trouble end up finding her anyways. Between getting bully and a professor has it out for her, life at the academy becomes hard. Now Lia must discover where she belongs and who can she trust.

The New Girl is the classic high school drama. Which I do enjoy a little drama. This book does become a murder mystery with a twist. Which is very exciting for me atleast. I had finish this book in a day and really did enjoyed it. Very crazy at times even at the end. Yes no spoilers. Also I do love the bloody cover to this book. This book is prefect for mystery/thrillers readers out there.

When you get a chance, check out the new girl.
