{Arc Review} House of Dragons by Jessica Cluess

Summary:
Five royal houses will hear the call to compete in the Trial for the dragon throne. A liar, a soldier, a servant, a thief, and a murderer will answer it. Who will win?
When the Emperor dies, the five royal houses of Etrusia attend the Call, where one of their own will be selected to compete for the throne. It is always the oldest child, the one who has been preparing for years to compete in the Trial. But this year is different. This year, these five outcasts will answer the call….
THE LIAR: Emilia must hide her dark magic or be put to death.
THE SOLDIER: Lucian is a warrior who has sworn to never lift a sword again.
THE SERVANT: Vespir is a dragon trainer whose skills alone will keep her in the game.
THE THIEF: Ajax knows that nothing is free–he must take what he wants.
THE MURDERER: Hyperia was born to rule and will stop at nothing to take her throne.

My Review:

House of Dragons was action packed and full of fun. Well there may be some blood shed also. I was excited to get my hand on the arc at ala this year. Will end up buying it when I can. The world building is not as glamorous as you think it is. It’s full of bad people and killers. Of course they have dragons to make them more deadly. The main characters are ruthless and selfish at times but I did full in love with their dragons.

Emilia is the brains of the group. She knows everything between politics and the dragon trials. Her sister was supposed to go this year but she end up being picked. Now she must fight for her life or have her secery exposed.

Lucian is a big fighter and killer at the start of the book. He wants nothing to do with the dragon trials, but then he gets the call. He notice something different at first at the trials when he see Emilia his old best friend there. Lucian may seem uncaring, but I think Emilia brings out the best in him at times.

Vespir loves to train dragons and has a forbidden love with someone. Never she thought she would get call. She is no royal or even has a house name. Vespir knows nothing much of the ins and out being a royal, so why was she picked to rule?

Ajax is like the comedian in the group. He hardly takes anything series. Ajax is just thief and only cares about himself and his dragon, Dog. He feels sorry for Vespir because he knows they both are the weaknesses leak in the trials.

Hyperia is ruthless and would do anything to lead the kingdom, even kill her own sister to complete. She seems to have a soft side a little bit around Ajak, but I would not trust her. Only ruling the kingdom matters to her, even if she might have to kill again.

There so characters you either love or hate them in the end. The world building and everything was fantastic. Have not yet fallen in love with a character in the book yet.

Mostly I was falling in love with a dragon name, Dog. He has such a cute personality in the book. Dog acts like a dog at times. He is rut of the litter and just want to have fun and be love. While the other dragons are so series about their job. That enough on dragon the dog. I could go on forever.

This review is very long sorry. Lots of story and tons of characters to sort through. So many also twists and turns. Who will win in the end? I’m so looking forward for book two to come out.

Happy Reading!!!

Just Breathe by Cammie Mcgovern

Book Summary:
David Sheinman is the popular president of his senior class, battling cystic fibrosis.
Jamie Turner is a quiet sophomore, struggling with depression.
The pair soon realizes that they can be their true selves with each other, and their unlikely friendship develops into something so much more. But neither Jamie nor David can bring themselves to reveal the secrets that weigh most heavily on their hearts—and their time for honesty may be running out.

My Review:

It not easy dealing with a invisible illness, especially when your in high school.

David is the popular guy at school. He has good grades and has a supportive girlfriend. On the outside you never would never know he was fighting a deadly disease, cystic fibrosis. He always putting up a brave in front of his friends and try not to let his illness defy him. Now he is trap in the hospital, as his illness gotten worse. Slowly he starts to rethink his life choices, and hope his friends and family will be there for him in the end.

Jamie is mostly anti social. She suffers from depression and a bit of anxiety after a tragic event that has happen to her. Her mother force her to work at the hospital and be more social. There she meets David. Somehow David and Jamie form a connection with each other. Also they confide into each other on secrets they hardly tell anyone.

Once David leaves the hospital. Will he and Jamie connection with each stick or they go back to their normal lives at school?

This book was so good and emotional read to me. There some sensitive talk on mental health in it. I think it was well written the story. I love the interactions between David and Jamie. They seem like the prefect fit. They both seem to come out if their shell a bit and standing up what they believe in. This book recently came out and should be check out.

If you like stories like Five Feet Apart and A fault in the Stars, then you will enjoy Just Breathe.

About the ELEMENTS OF FIVE series

One thousand years ago, there was one realm of magic. The Maison Realm. It held five kingdoms with five kings or queens, who worked together to keep the Maison people safe and ensure the balance of magic. Over the last five hundred years following the Fall, the great war that began the fracture, many of the kingdoms’ inhabitants intermated, and the magics soon became tied to one another in pairs. Except for the Spirit Wielders.  The two remaining kingdoms are now converging, and the veil between the two is fading. Only the human realm lies between the two, and no one there knows there is a war surrounding them.

Over time, certain children of the Fall began to leave their respective kingdoms to venture into the human realm in search of the prophesied Spirit Priestess who is said to wield the Elements of Five and bring the two fractured kingdoms together. For the realms are dying without their sister magics. And soon, there will be no more power left to rule the kingdoms, for there will be no more kingdoms left to rule.

{Blog Tour} You’d Be Mine by Erin Hahn

ABOUT YOU’D BE MINE:

Annie Mathers is America’s sweetheart and heir to a country music legacy full of all the things her Gran warned her about. Superstar Clay Coolidge is most definitely going to end up one of those things.

But unfortunately for Clay, if he can’t convince Annie to join his summer tour, his music label is going to drop him. That’s what happens when your bad boy image turns into bad boy reality. Annie has been avoiding the spotlight after her parents’ tragic death, except on her skyrocketing YouTube channel. Clay’s label wants to land Annie, and Clay has to make it happen.
Swayed by Clay’s undeniable charm and good looks, Annie and her band agree to join the tour. From the start fans want them to be more than just tour mates, and Annie and Clay can’t help but wonder if the fans are right. But if there’s one part of fame Annie wants nothing to do with, it’s a high-profile relationship. She had a front row seat to her parents’ volatile marriage and isn’t interested in repeating history. If only she could convince her heart that Clay, with his painful past and head over heels inducing tenor, isn’t worth the risk.
Erin Hahn’s thrilling debut, You’d Be Mine, asks: can the right song and the perfect summer on the road make two broken hearts whole?

My review:

You’d be Mine was such a good read. I finish it in one night. The storytelling was good and can connected well with the characters.

Annie deals with a haunting pass of her famous parents. She writes and sings music locally, afraid of repeating her parents downfall. When country star, Clay comes along with a offer. Will she be able to leave her past behind?

Clay is the bad news, he is such a hot mess. In order to change his life around, he is forced to recruit Annie. With these two always butting head, will Clay leave tour a change man?

I like the chemistry between Annie and Clay in the book. They always fighting with each witch was fun to read. This book has some country vibe feeling to it. I was happy to a part of the blog tour. This book for someone who like little romance and enjoy some music.

Happy Reading!!!!

The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith

Book Summary:

In the tradition of Speak, this extraordinary debut novel shares the unforgettable story of a young woman as she struggles to find strength in the aftermath of an assault.

Eden was always good at being good. Starting high school didn’t change who she was. But the night her brother’s best friend rapes her, Eden’s world capsizes.

What was once simple, is now complex. What Eden once loved—who she once loved—she now hates. What she thought she knew to be true, is now lies. Nothing makes sense anymore, and she knows she’s supposed to tell someone what happened but she can’t. So she buries it instead. And she buries the way she used to be.

Told in four parts—freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior year—this provocative debut reveals the deep cuts of trauma. But it also demonstrates one young woman’s strength as she navigates the disappointment and unbearable pains of adolescence, of first love and first heartbreak, of friendships broken and rebuilt, and while learning to embrace a power of survival she never knew she had hidden within her heart.

My Review:

This story is an emotional journey for Eden. I read this book in like one night and was crying at the end. The story was detailed for more older teens. Feelings the pain Eden went through when she was rape at an young age. Over three years you get to see how she cope and bottle it up like it never happen. Loosing friends and herself in the process. This book is an graphic and have sensitive issues that talk about in it. I think it more older teens read then anything. Can Eden be saved at the end before it’s to late?

But is he getting her to divulge her secrets, or is he feeding her the information she needs to bring Gotham City to its knees? Bruce will walk the dark line between trust and betrayal as the Nightwalkers circle closer.

My Review:

When I first heard about this book, I was like I must read it. Was lucky enough to an arc of it. I am such an big Batman fan so was happy Marie Lu wrote this book.It was when  Bruce before he became the batman. I really enjoy the story line to this book. Get to see Bruce growing up as an man a bit and problems he has during high school. Was so sad how short the book Batman was. This book has action, lots of fighting and some deaths in it, hardly that much romance going on. If you looking for to see how the Bruce turn out at the age of 18 then you will like this book. It’s coming out Jan. 2, so it will be out soon. Happy Reading!
