The Night of Your Life by Lydia Sharp

Summary:
JJ is having the worst prom ever… over and over again.
All year, JJ’s been looking forward to going to prom with his best friend, Lucy. It will be their last hurrah before graduation—a perfect night for all their friends to relax, have fun together, and celebrate making it through high school.
But nothing goes according to plan. When a near-car crash derails JJ before he even gets to prom and Lucy can’t figure out what happened to him, things spiral out of control. The best night of their lives quickly turns into the worst.
That is… until JJ wakes up the next day only to find that it’s prom night all over again.
At first, JJ thinks he’s lucky to have unlimited chances at perfecting the night of his life. But each day ends badly for him and Lucy, no matter what he does. Can he find a way to get the perfect prom he’s always wanted and move forward into the rest of his life?

My Review:

What happens when prom don’t turn right? You end up repeating it until you have the prefect night.

JJ has the prefect prom night plan out with his best friend Lucy. Things never turn out the way they plan for the day. JJ was nice inviting another girl into going to prom with them. On the way he helps someone fix their car, while missing prom. His friend Lucy at prom waiting anxiously for him. Little did jj know Lucy had a surprise for jj.

After JJ and Lucy have a big blow up, he ends up reliving the same prom night over and over again. Trying to get it right.

This book was kinda a fun read. It has a freaky Friday vibe going on.

I adore JJ in the book. He was a very nice person and worries so much about everyone. He can be clueless on how his friend Lucy feeling at times. When he gets to repeat the night over again and again, he starts understanding on what’s happening with Lucy.

Lucy is a bit uptight in the book. She must havr everything prefect and gets upset when it falls apart. She has a major panic attack at prom where she end up in the hospital. That when JJ starts his adventures of repeating prom.

Will JJ be able to set thing right?

The Time of Your Life is a good read to lift up your mood.

Jane Anonymous by Laurie Faria Stolarz

Book Summary:
Then, “Jane” was just your typical 17-year-old in a typical New England suburb getting ready to start her senior year. She had a part-time job she enjoyed, an awesome best friend, overbearing but loving parents, and a crush on a boy who was taking her to see her favorite band. She never would’ve imagined that in her town where nothing ever happens, a series of small coincidences would lead to a devastating turn of events that would forever change her life.
Now, it’s been three months since “Jane” escaped captivity and returned home. Three months of being that girl who was kidnapped, the girl who was held by a “monster.” Three months of writing down everything she remembered from those seven months locked up in that stark white room. But, what if everything you thought you knew―everything you thought you experienced―turned out to be a lie?

My Review:

Things can change after 3 months being kidnapped.

On mintue Jane was at the store getting her a friend a gift, and the next someone grabs her. She is lock in a room with clothes that fit her and her favorite foods. Hearing screams of another person that was kidnap also. Only comfort she has was a boy in the vents. After she escape, her only concern was saving the other people that where there.

Once she back where she was kidnap, everything changes and nothing is as it seems.

This book was an emotional read dealing with heavy subject on a kidnap victim. Jane been through a lot, she could have been drugged and held without food. Her world change a lot after three months. Not knowing what was real or fake until she was release. Also having hard time accepting on the truth.

In the end the book leaves you with some unanswered questions and feeling lost and confused like the main character. Overall it was a good read for me. This is a heavy read and might be sensitive to some readers.

Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao

Book Summary:
This hot debut is the first book in an epic new series about a princess hiding a dark secret and the con man she must trust to clear her name for her father’s murder.
In the Cyrilian Empire, Affinites are reviled. Their varied gifts to control the world around them are unnatural—dangerous. And Anastacya Mikhailov, the crown princess, has a terrifying secret. Her deadly Affinity to blood is her curse and the reason she has lived her life hidden behind palace walls.
When Ana’s father, the emperor, is murdered, her world is shattered. Framed as his killer, Ana must flee the palace to save her life. And to clear her name, she must find her father’s murderer on her own. But the Cyrilia beyond the palace walls is far different from the one she thought she knew. Corruption rules the land, and a greater conspiracy is at work—one that threatens the very balance of her world. And there is only one person corrupt enough to help Ana get to its core: Ramson Quicktongue.
A cunning crime lord of the Cyrilian underworld, Ramson has sinister plans—though he might have met his match in Ana. Because in this story, the princess might be the most dangerous player of all.

My Review:

When the emperor is found dead, his only daughter is accused of murder and now on the run.

Ana is in survivor mode since she ran away. She must find the man that killed her father and clear her name before it’s to late. In order to do that she must team up with a crime lord, Ransom.

With some help from the crime lord she learn some horrible family secrets and what been going on in her kingdom since she ran off. Ana tries to keep her powers hidden also and under control. Which will be prove challenging when trying to take back her kingdom and save her brother.

I thought the book was such a magical thrill ride from the beginning and the end. The summary give a lot of what the book is book is about also. There a lot of action and death in this read. You will have trouble on who to trust also. It was a perfect retelling of Anastasia story. You connect well with the characters and fall in love with the story. Even the cover to the book is so pretty looking.

Looking for new fantasy series, then try Blood Heir.

{Arc Review} Run, Hide, Fight Back by April Henry

Book Summary:
Six teens must band together to survive after a shooting breaks out.
When a deadly shooting breaks out in a Portland shopping mall, a diverse group of teens ends up trapped behind a store’s security shutter. To her own surprise, seventeen-year-old Miranda finds the others looking to her as their leader. But she’s hiding a big secret—and she’s not the only one. The group has only three choices—run, hide, or fight back. The wrong decision will have fatal consequences.

My Review:

Run, Hide, Fight Back was a very intense read. I kinda hold off reviewing since that shooting at the mall happen. This book storyline revolves around a mall shooting also. Some of the characters go to the same school when it happens.

The story centers around Miranda and her school friends. After she steals some make up from the mall, that’s when the shooting happens. She watches someone die in the food court. She quickly runs for cover with other survivors. With so many shooters in the mall, will they be able to work together and fight back?

This book told in some points of views. Get some back story on the characters past and why there at mall at first place. There a lot sensitive issues in this read and very heavy read. I did liked this book and it was good story and the cover is a nice touch. The book comes out August 27th if you want to try it out.

{Arc Review} Stolen Things by R.H Herron

Book Summary:
A sensational crime, a missing teen, and a mother and daughter with no one to trust but themselves come together in this shocking debut thriller by R. H. Herron.
“Mama? Help me.”
Laurie Ahmadi has worked as a 911 police dispatcher in her quiet Northern California town for nearly two decades. She considers the department her family; her husband, Omid, is its first Arab American chief, and their teenaged daughter, Jojo, has grown up with the force. So when Laurie catches a 911 call and, to her horror, it’s Jojo, the whole department springs into action.
Jojo, drugged, disoriented, and in pain, doesn’t remember how she ended up at the home of Kevin Leeds, a pro football player famous for his on-the-field activism and his work with the CapB—“Citizens Against Police Brutality”—movement. She doesn’t know what happened to Kevin’s friend and trainer, whose beaten corpse is also discovered in the house. And she has no idea where her best friend Harper, who was with her earlier in the evening, could be.
But when Jojo begins to dive into Harper’s social media to look for clues to her whereabouts, Jojo uncovers a shocking secret that turns everything she knew about Harper—and the police department—on its head. With everything they thought they could rely on in question, Laurie and Jojo begin to realize that they can’t trust anyone to find Harper except themselves . . . and time is running out.

My Review:

Stolen Things is a mother’s worse nightmare. When being a 911 operator, you never never thought getting a haunting call by your daughter. This book is very chilling read. The story line was good and the can really connect with each characters in the book.

Laurie is good at her job and friends with the cops on the force. She even marry to a cop. Her life seems well and so busy with work. One phone can change her life around.

Jojo, Lurie’s daughter, wakes up in a stranger house. With no memory of what happen that night, she calls for help. Jojo been leading a secret life her parents never knew about. When her friend goes missing, will her serects be revealed. What really what happen to Jojo?

This new mystery/thriller I liked. It has some good twists and turns in it. I do like the cover of this book. It seems innocent the cover. It may have sensitive stuff in it for people. Not sure it’s young adult or adult read. Sorry I have liked the summary and was intrigued with the cover when my friend gave it to me. The book comes out Aug 20th. Something you might want to put on TBR.

{Arc Review} Teen Titans Raven by Kami Garcia

Book Summary:
When a tragic accident takes the life of seventeen-year-old Raven Roth’s foster mom–and Raven’s memory–she moves to New Orleans to live with her foster mother’s family and finish her senior year of high school.
Starting over isn’t easy. Raven remembers how to solve math equations and make pasta, but she can’t remember her favorite song or who she was before the accident. When strange things start happening–impossible things–Raven starts to think it might be better not to know who she was in her previous life.
But as she grows closer to her foster sister, Max, her new friends, and Tommy Torres, a guy who accepts her for who she is now, Raven has to decide if she’s ready to face what’s buried in the past…and the darkness building inside her.

My Review:

When I was young, I used to watch Teen Titans series. My favorite character on the show was Raven. Her story was always a mystery on the show. She always seems down and hiding who she really is. All Raven wanted to do was fit in with the titans and be good, but her pass did catch up with her in the end. She is also the strongest titan on the team, which I thought was cool.

For those who seen the show or read the graphics novels know her story. This is new book by Kami Garcia starts at the begining for those who never heard of Raven or before she was on the teen titans.

The summary tells most of the story. Raven suffers a tragic accident, no memory on who and what she is. Nightmares haunts her at night and people looking for her. Who or what is Raven?

This was a quick read and prefect for graphic novel fans to enjoy this new take on Raven story. You see the struggles she has trying to be normal, and start dating. While at the same time her powers start growing. It not easy being normal teen with magical powers. I really did love this read and I do like reading graphic novels books at times. This book comes out tomorrow if your looking for something different to read.

Here are some of my favorite graphics in the books.

Storm and Fury by Jennifer L Armentrout

Book Summary:
Eighteen-year-old Trinity Marrow may be going blind, but she can see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. Her unique gift is part of a secret so dangerous that she’s been in hiding for years in an isolated compound fiercely guarded by Wardens—gargoyle shape-shifters who protect humankind from demons. If the demons discover the truth about Trinity, they’ll devour her, flesh and bone, to enhance their own powers.
When Wardens from another clan arrive with disturbing reports that something out there is killing both demons and Wardens, Trinity’s safe world implodes. Not the least because one of the outsiders is the most annoying and fascinating person she’s ever met. Zayne has secrets of his own that will upend her world yet again—but working together becomes imperative once demons breach the compound and Trinity’s secret comes to light. To save her family and maybe the world, she’ll have to put her trust in Zayne. But all bets are off as a supernatural war is unleashed…

My Review:

Storm and Fury was such a awesome spin off to The Dark Elements series. You don’t have to read the dark elements to enjoy this book. If your interested in reading The dark elements series, the series starts with White Hot Kis, Cold Stone Touch and Every Last Breathe. I reviewed books 1 & 2 of the books on here.

Storm and Fury set in the dark elements world with some new characters and fun cameos from the book. Which I did love so much. Even I connected with the new characters in the books.

Trinity acts all human, but deep down she is something different. Only a few people in the warden home knows her secret. She may be going blind, but she can kick any demon or warden butt. Once Zayne visit the clan, her life gets turn upside. Something is killing demon s and wadens a like. Will Trinity be any use and can help Zayne out?

This book is a face pace read. I had trouble putting it until it was finish. I love the world building to it. It was fun watching Trinity and Zayne interact with each other also. This book has everything from magical creatures just about. Looking for something new to read, then this book might be for you.

Bestselling author Katie McGarry’s trademark wrong-side-of-the-tracks romance is given a new twist in the gritty YA contemporary novel, Only a Breath Apart.

Jesse Lachlin is cursed.

So the town folklore says, but while Jesse’s had his fair share of tragedy, the only curse he believes is in his grandmother’s will: in order to inherit his family farm he must win the approval of his childhood best friend, the girl he froze out his freshman year, Scarlett Copeland.

Scarlett Copeland is psychic.

Glory Gardner tells Scarlett she has hidden psychic abilities, but Scarlett thinks Glory is delusional. What is real is Scarlett’s father’s irrational fears, controlling attitude, and the dark secrets at home. Scarlett may have a way to escape, but there’s a hitch: she’ll have to rely on the one person she used to trust, the same boy who broke her heart, Jesse Lachlin.

Each midnight meeting pushes Jesse and Scarlett to confront their secrets and their feelings for each other. But as love blooms, the curse rears its ugly head…

My Review:

Katie Mcgarry book has a way to draw you in. The stories she tells in each book leaves you emotionally invested. You can get connected and fall in love with the characters she writes. I was happy to a part of this blog tour and looking forward to reading more books by Katie Mcgarry.

Jesse and Scarlett are total opposites now, more so after they grew further apart from one another. Scarlett is this “ice queen” and Jesse’s family is “cursed”. Once Jesse’s grandmother passes away, fate intervenes. Jesse finds out from his physic friend, Glory, that Scarlett will help him keep his land. But can these two forget their past heartbreak and get to their happy ending?

This book was a fast paced read. I liked how Scarlett and Jesse reconnect with each other after years of being split apart. It was nice seeing how some of their friends act towards their growing friendship. This book is perfect for comtempory readers. Looking for a new fiction read, then this book will be for you.
