Wicked Fox by Kat Cho

Book Summary:
A fresh and addictive fantasy-romance set in modern-day Seoul.
Eighteen-year-old Gu Miyoung has a secret–she’s a gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who must devour the energy of men in order to survive. Because so few believe in the old tales anymore, and with so many evil men no one will miss, the modern city of Seoul is the perfect place to hide and hunt.
But after feeding one full moon, Miyoung crosses paths with Jihoon, a human boy, being attacked by a goblin deep in the forest. Against her better judgment, she violates the rules of survival to rescue the boy, losing her fox bead–her gumiho soul–in the process.
Jihoon knows Miyoung is more than just a beautiful girl–he saw her nine tails the night she saved his life. His grandmother used to tell him stories of the gumiho, of their power and the danger they pose to humans. He’s drawn to her anyway.
With murderous forces lurking in the background, Miyoung and Jihoon develop a tenuous friendship that blossoms into something more. But when a young shaman tries to reunite Miyoung with her bead, the consequences are disastrous . . . forcing Miyoung to choose between her immortal life and Jihoon’s.

My Review:

Wicked Fox was such a good read. You will be in a culture shock. The story and the details of this book was so prefect. I loved the characters and the fantasy elements that brought it to life.

Gu Miyoung is half gumiko {fox demon} and half human. She must eat every so often or she dies. Since she is half human, she feeds only off on mostly evil people. She still has murals for half demon and trying to please her mother.

When I think of half gumiko, a nine tail fox. It reminds me of my anime series Naruto which I love.

Jihoon is such a sweet guy in the book. He does everything he can to please his caregiver. Then one night walking his dog, his life change when he spots Miyoung in fox form. He was so intrigued with her world and smitten by her beauty, when his world is turn upside when she saves his life that night. What adventures and secrets lives between the two?

This fantasy read was like watching a kdrama {Korea Drama}. It has the making of a great kdrama, that I would love to watch and read over and over again. The cover is such a nice touch to the book. This book is great for new readers to the Korea world and culture of it. Get to learn some fun folklore and enjoy reading the detailed scenery.

Happy Reading!!!

Here some Wicked Fox in the wild pictures.

Summary:

The story of The Continent continues, now unfolding in a fast-paced split narrative as told by Vaela Sun (originally of the Spire), Noro Dún (of the Aven’ei), and Skaala Kael (of the Xoe).
Vaela has left the privileged, peaceful land of the Spire, choosing to live with the boy she loves among the Aven’ei people on the Continent. But though the war between the Aven’ei and their longtime foe, the Xoe, has come to a temporary cease-fire, hatred on the Continent runs deep, and the question of whether or not violence is part of human nature becomes ever more difficult to answer. When Vaela is called upon to act as a diplomat and live among the Xoe, her journey takes a dangerous turn—but not for the reasons she might have suspected. Assumptions crumble away, betrayal lies hidden behind friendly faces, and Vaela becomes torn between a desire for peace and the need to conceal a terrible secret that could reignite a war.

In the midst of these struggles, Vaela learns the dark, shattering truth of how she came to be on the Continent. She must now choose between vengeance and forgiveness, and discover what she is truly willing to sacrifice for peace and love.

{Arc Review} A Touch Of Gold by Annie Sullivan

Book Summary:
King Midas once had the ability to turn all he touched into gold. But after his gift—or curse—almost killed his daughter, Midas relinquished The Touch forever. Ten years later, Princess Kora still bears the consequences of her father’s wish: her skin shines golden, rumors follow her everywhere she goes, and she harbors secret powers that are getting harder to hide.
Kora spends her days locked in the palace, concealed behind gloves and veils, trying to ignore the stares and gossip of courtiers. It isn’t until a charming young duke arrives that Kora realizes there may be someone out there who doesn’t fear her or her curse. But their courtship is disrupted when a thief steals precious items from the kingdom, leaving the treasury depleted and King Midas vulnerable. Thanks to her unique ability to sense gold, Kora is the only one who can track the thief down. As she sails off on her quest, Kora learns that not everything is what it seems—not thieves, not pirates, and not even curses. She quickly discovers that gold—and the power it brings—is more dangerous than she’d ever believed.
Midas learned his lesson at a price. What will Kora’s journey cost?

My Review:

I absolutely enjoyed this book. It was such a original read. I Love geek mythology and retellings. The story about King Midas was such a good idea.

I liked how we got the background on how Midas dealing with the golden touch. Saw how his family have suffer and the city during his time with the touch.

I did liked Kora in the book. You saw how much she had grown throughout the book. Learning more on better control of her curse. She very fearless when her father’s gold goes missing. Ready to jump into action to save her father. But can she trust the people around her to help?

Thought the book was a bit action pack and fun. Mostly for fans who like geek mythology or any fan in general. Hopefully there a book two soon. The ending will leave you wanting more.

The book just came out today. So Happy Book Birthday!!

Happy Reading!!
