Faceless by Alyssa Sheinmel

Book Summary:
When Maisie Winters wakes up, she’s in the hospital.
The last thing she remembers is running through the hills of her neighborhood one misty morning. Slowly, she puts the pieces together. Before she could make it home, a storm gathered. Lightning hit a power line and sparks rained down, the hot-burning electrical fire consuming her. Destroying her face. Where her nose, cheeks, and chin used to be, now there is…nothing.
Maisie’s lucky enough to qualify for a rare medical treatment: a face transplant. At least, everyone says she’s lucky. But with someone else’s features staring back at her in the mirror, Maisie looks—and feels—like a stranger. The doctors promised that the transplant was her chance to live a normal life again, but nothing feels normal anymore. Before, she knew who she was—a regular girl who ran track and got good grades, who loved her boyfriend and her best friend. Now, she can’t even recognize herself.

My Review:

What Happens when your in a horrible accident and half your face is gone?

In the book Faceless, Maisie deals with an tragic accident, while out running one day. Her face was so burn up, you could barely recognized her. Lucky to have been still alive, she gets a chance to start over with a face transplant. With having a new face will it change the who she before the accident? How your her friends and people around her will react?

This book was very good read. I thought it was well written and very detailed story. I like seeing how Maisie has grow throughout the book and dealing with what happen to her. Faceless is such an amazing read and hope more people discover this book.

Looking for a new book with self discovering and accepting who you are. Then I suggest you pick up Faceless. If you unsure on this book then pick up at local library.

Happy Reading!!!!

The Coldest Girl In Coldtown by Holly Black

Book Summary:
Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.
One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a wholly original story of rage and revenge, of guilt and horror, and of love and loathing from bestselling and acclaimed author Holly Black.

My Review:

Welcome to Coldtown! Where the monsters bump in the night.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown was such an fantastic read. The world is filled with vampires but they are not what they seem. They were taught to be scare of them, but are they really that bad?

The main character, Tana. She has been through a lot in the beginning of the book. Everyone around her is dead and her ex-boyfriend/friend is infected. The only way she can save him is take him to coldtown, with an unlikely help from a vampire. Secrets in coldtown are exposed, Tana is at risk not making it out alive. What will become of her in the end??

This book was pretty much a quick read. The cover is awesome looking. That ending made me want more. Hopefully Holly will work on another book. It a good stand alone. Slowly starting to read more Holly Black’s book. This is detailed read, that will leave you with full of emotions. I’m glad a got a chance to read it.

{Arc Review} Slayer by Kristen White

Book Summary:
Into every generation a Slayer is born…
Nina and her twin sister, Artemis, are far from normal. It’s hard to be when you grow up at the Watcher’s Academy, which is a bit different from your average boarding school. Here teens are trained as guides for Slayers—girls gifted with supernatural strength to fight the forces of darkness. But while Nina’s mother is a prominent member of the Watcher’s Council, Nina has never embraced the violent Watcher lifestyle. Instead she follows her instincts to heal, carving out a place for herself as the school medic.
Until the day Nina’s life changes forever.
Thanks to Buffy, the famous (and infamous) Slayer that Nina’s father died protecting, Nina is not only the newest Chosen One—she’s the last Slayer, ever. Period.
As Nina hones her skills with her Watcher-in-training, Leo, there’s plenty to keep her occupied: a monster fighting ring, a demon who eats happiness, a shadowy figure that keeps popping up in Nina’s dreams…
But it’s not until bodies start turning up that Nina’s new powers will truly be tested—because someone she loves might be next.
One thing is clear: Being Chosen is easy. Making choices is hard.

My Review:

I’m in love in with Slayer. Brought back so many memories of Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. Prefect for fans of new and old. Love the idea we get inside look in the watcher world. You get to see how hard the watchers train and be chosen to look over a slayer. I also did like the characters in the book. Not everything is evolved around Buffy.

I did enjoy reading the twins story, Nina and Artemis. They are so different from each other in the book. Artemis is the favorite and best fighter at school, while Nina is on the sidelines doing medical. Somehow Nina developed slayer powers after Buffy had ruin things for the watchers. Now she must learn to accept her faith. Will she be ready to save the world like Buffy?

The book was a quick read. It did bring up some characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer show. Love how Buffy shows up once in a while in Nina’s dreams. It was a nice take on the world. It was neat seeing how people react on being the slayer. Slayer comes out tommorow and worth the read.

{Arc Review} The Similars by Rebecca Hanover

Book Summary:
When six clones join Emmaline’s prestigious boarding school, she must confront the heartbreak of seeing her dead best friend’s face each day in class.
The Similars are all anyone can talk about at the elite Darkwood Academy. Who are these six clones? What are the odds that all of them would be Darkwood students? Who is the madman who broke the law to create them? Emma couldn’t care less. Her best friend, Oliver, died over the summer and all she can think about is how to get through her junior year without him. Then she comes face-to-heartbreaking-face with Levi—Oliver’s exact DNA replica and one of the Similars.
Emma wants nothing to do with the Similars, but she keeps getting pulled deeper and deeper into their clique, uncovering dark truths about the clones and her prestigious school along the way. But no one can be trusted…not even the boy she is falling for who has Oliver’s face.

My Review:

The Similars was such an original and unique read. Something totally different that I had not read in a long time. I loved the story it told and enjoy the characters in the book.

I did like Emma in the book. She was dealing with a lot when school started. Her best friend had dead, and then suddenly she finds out he was clone. It was hard enough going to school with clones, but having one that looks like your dead friend is a little to much. How will Emma deal?

There is Levi in the book. At first I don’t really trust him. He never knew why he was clone of a dead person. What secrets and purposes of the clones at school in the first place? Levi has the answers but is he willing to share with Emma?

The book was a another quick read for me. I liked the idea of clones mixed in with humans at school. You can also see not all the kids are not happy the clones there at all. It so full with twists and ending that leaving you wanting more. Lucky this book came out today.

{Arc Review} The Wicked King by Holly Black

Book Summary:
You must be strong enough to strike and strike and strike again without tiring.
The first lesson is to make yourself strong.
After the jaw-dropping revelation that Oak is the heir to Faerie, Jude must keep her younger brother safe. To do so, she has bound the wicked king, Cardan, to her, and made herself the power behind the throne. Navigating the constantly shifting political alliances of Faerie would be difficult enough if Cardan were easy to control. But he does everything in his power to humiliate and undermine her even as his fascination with her remains undiminished.
When it becomes all too clear that someone close to Jude means to betray her, threatening her own life and the lives of everyone she loves, Jude must uncover the traitor and fight her own complicated feelings for Cardan to maintain control as a mortal in a Faerie world.

My Review:

This book was so awesome. A little slow start but picks up pretty good in the middle. There are so many emotions within the book. You guys have until January 9th for it to come out. Will leave you some gifs on how I feel about the book.

So kinda beginning of book just was like waiting for something big to happen..

This is me in the middle and towards the end….

Then the ending has me like this..

This book is action packed, very little romance, and lots of shocking twists you don’t see coming. So be prepared when jumping into this series again. Also can I say how pretty this cover is. I’m excited to go to signing event. Now need to count down to book 3.

Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel by Val Emmich, Steven Levenson, Benj Pasek & Justin Paul

Book Summary:
From the show’s creators comes the groundbreaking novel inspired by the Broadway smash hit Dear Evan Hansen.
Dear Evan Hansen,
Today’s going to be an amazing day and here’s why…
When a letter that was never meant to be seen by anyone draws high school senior Evan Hansen into a family’s grief over the loss of their son, he is given the chance of a lifetime: to belong. He just has to stick to a lie he never meant to tell, that the notoriously troubled Connor Murphy was his secret best friend.
Suddenly, Evan isn’t invisible anymore–even to the girl of his dreams. And Connor Murphy’s parents, with their beautiful home on the other side of town, have taken him in like he was their own, desperate to know more about their enigmatic son from his closest friend. As Evan gets pulled deeper into their swirl of anger, regret, and confusion, he knows that what he’s doing can’t be right, but if he’s helping people, how wrong can it be?
No longer tangled in his once-incapacitating anxiety, this new Evan has a purpose. And a website. He’s confident. He’s a viral phenomenon. Every day is amazing. Until everything is in danger of unraveling and he comes face to face with his greatest obstacle: himself.
A simple lie leads to complicated truths in this big-hearted coming-of-age story of grief, authenticity and the struggle to belong in an age of instant connectivity and profound isolation.

My Review:

Dear Evan Hansen, Today is going to be an amazing day and here’s why….

This book was such an awesome read. I had to listen to the soundtrack while reading it. For those who may not know, this book is base off a musical. The story was so good and have fallen in love with some of the main characters.

Evan Hansen, I felt so sorry for him in the book. He deals with so much anxiety and loneliness in the beginning of it. When doing an assignment to his therapist, things get out of hand. Soon he build this lie when a classmate passed away, then he becomes popular. You see the guilt eatting him up over this one lie. How far will Evan go before the truth comes out?

There is also Connor who seems to be on drugs and a big loner. His family tries hard to help but in the end he takes his life. You get to read Connor story in the afterlife throughout the book. Will his spirit be able to move on?

So I found out the musical is very different than the book. They added a couple new storylines. It perfect for those who have yet seen the musical and wanted to.

*Warning: May contain some sensitive issues for some readers*

The Musical:

I was lucky this Christmas to have seen the musical. It was so good and eye opening on anxiety and feeling alone. The music was so addictive and fun to sing along with. I was so happy to experience seeing it before reading the book. Here some pictures.
