Wicked Fox by Kat Cho

Book Summary:
A fresh and addictive fantasy-romance set in modern-day Seoul.
Eighteen-year-old Gu Miyoung has a secret–she’s a gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who must devour the energy of men in order to survive. Because so few believe in the old tales anymore, and with so many evil men no one will miss, the modern city of Seoul is the perfect place to hide and hunt.
But after feeding one full moon, Miyoung crosses paths with Jihoon, a human boy, being attacked by a goblin deep in the forest. Against her better judgment, she violates the rules of survival to rescue the boy, losing her fox bead–her gumiho soul–in the process.
Jihoon knows Miyoung is more than just a beautiful girl–he saw her nine tails the night she saved his life. His grandmother used to tell him stories of the gumiho, of their power and the danger they pose to humans. He’s drawn to her anyway.
With murderous forces lurking in the background, Miyoung and Jihoon develop a tenuous friendship that blossoms into something more. But when a young shaman tries to reunite Miyoung with her bead, the consequences are disastrous . . . forcing Miyoung to choose between her immortal life and Jihoon’s.

My Review:

Wicked Fox was such a good read. You will be in a culture shock. The story and the details of this book was so prefect. I loved the characters and the fantasy elements that brought it to life.

Gu Miyoung is half gumiko {fox demon} and half human. She must eat every so often or she dies. Since she is half human, she feeds only off on mostly evil people. She still has murals for half demon and trying to please her mother.

When I think of half gumiko, a nine tail fox. It reminds me of my anime series Naruto which I love.

Jihoon is such a sweet guy in the book. He does everything he can to please his caregiver. Then one night walking his dog, his life change when he spots Miyoung in fox form. He was so intrigued with her world and smitten by her beauty, when his world is turn upside when she saves his life that night. What adventures and secrets lives between the two?

This fantasy read was like watching a kdrama {Korea Drama}. It has the making of a great kdrama, that I would love to watch and read over and over again. The cover is such a nice touch to the book. This book is great for new readers to the Korea world and culture of it. Get to learn some fun folklore and enjoy reading the detailed scenery.

Happy Reading!!!

Here some Wicked Fox in the wild pictures.

{Arc Review} A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

Book Summary:
In a lush, contemporary fantasy retelling of Beauty and the Beast, Brigid Kemmerer gives readers another compulsively readable romance perfect for fans of Marissa Meyer.
Fall in love, break the curse.
It once seemed so easy to Prince Rhen, the heir to Emberfall. Cursed by a powerful enchantress to repeat the autumn of his eighteenth year over and over, he knew he could be saved if a girl fell for him. But that was before he learned that at the end of each autumn, he would turn into a vicious beast hell-bent on destruction. That was before he destroyed his castle, his family, and every last shred of hope.
Nothing has ever been easy for Harper Lacy. With her father long gone, her mother dying, and her brother barely holding their family together while constantly underestimating her because of her cerebral palsy, she learned to be tough enough to survive. But when she tries to save someone else on the streets of Washington, DC, she’s instead somehow sucked into Rhen’s cursed world.
Break the curse, save the kingdom.
A prince? A monster? A curse? Harper doesn’t know where she is or what to believe. But as she spends time with Rhen in this enchanted land, she begins to understand what’s at stake. And as Rhen realizes Harper is not just another girl to charm, his hope comes flooding back. But powerful forces are standing against Emberfall . . . and it will take more than a broken curse to save Harper, Rhen, and his people from utter ruin.

My Review:

A Dark So Lonely Curse was such a perfect Beauty and the Beast retelling. I love how how the story is set in modern times. Also the cover blew me away. Enjoy how the the two main characters interact with each other.

I thought Harper was kick ass in her own way in the book. She did not let her disabilities, stop her from helping a girl in trouble. Which would she end yup stuck into an crazy magical world. Can she use her wits and charm to get back home?

Prince Rhen in the book was such an jerk. He was so desperate breaking the curse, he end up kidnapping girls from other words. When Harper accidentally comes along, he is in over his head. Will Harper be the one to tame the beast?

This book was such an quick read. I would read this over and over. Also what I love in this book, the prince is not really a beast form all the time. He just a jerk prince that is cursed. What kind curse he has, well you must read for self. The book comes out January 31st.

Happy Reading!!!!!

{Arc Review} Sea Witch by Sarah Henning

Book Summary:
Everyone knows what happens in the end.
A mermaid, a prince, a true love’s kiss.
But before that young siren’s tale, there were three friends.
One feared, one royal, and one already dead.
~~~~~~~~~~
Ever since her best friend, Anna, drowned, Evie has been an outcast in her small fishing town. A freak. A curse. A witch.
A girl with an uncanny resemblance to Anna appears offshore and, though the girl denies it, Evie is convinced that her best friend actually survived. That her own magic wasn’t so powerless after all. And, as the two girls catch the eyes—and hearts—of two charming princes, Evie believes that she might finally have a chance at her own happily ever after.
But her new friend has secrets of her own. She can’t stay in Havnestad, or on two legs, unless Evie finds a way to help her. Now Evie will do anything to save her friend’s humanity, along with her prince’s heart—harnessing the power of her magic, her ocean, and her love until she discovers, too late, the truth of her bargain.
The rise of Hans Christian Andersen’s iconic villainess is a heart-wrenching story of friendship, betrayal, and a girl pushed beyond her limits—to become a monster.
My Review:
I liked this book. It was a quick read and liked the story idea of the book. It was nice seeing how the villian got her story. I do enjoy backstories to villians lives. I did like some of the characters in the books.
The story centers around four friends, Evie, Annemette, Nik and Iker. I enjoy their friendship through out the book. You watched them grow up and love blossom for some in the group.
Evie, who grew up with Nik and Iker. She hides a dark secret from them, that can get her kill. She always kept to herself and cling to the princes in the book. I like her in the book. She is brave and very smart girl.
Annemette, the new girl in the group. Looks like their dead friend. She has hidden secrets of her own when she first meets Evie. I kinda of liked her in the book. She was a person I did not trust most. What’s her plan with the prince?
Nik and Iker, the two princes. I liked Nik a bit more than Ikar in the book. Nik is so sweet and caring prince. Ikar is a total playboy. These princes got their work cut out for them between Evie and Annemette. How will they handle learning the truth between both girls?
I thought the book a little slow pace for me. I like how story unfolded in the end. The cover is very pretty. This book has some twists and turns in it. If you love a good villain story, then you might enjoy Sea Witch.
{Arc Review} Furyborn by Claire Legrand
Book Summary:
Follows two fiercely independent young women, centuries apart, who hold the power to save their world…or doom it.
When assassins ambush her best friend, the crown prince, Rielle Dardenne risks everything to save him, exposing her ability to perform all seven kinds of elemental magic. The only people who should possess this extraordinary power are a pair of prophesied queens: a queen of light and salvation and a queen of blood and destruction. To prove she is the Sun Queen, Rielle must endure seven trials to test her magic. If she fails, she will be executed…unless the trials kill her first.
A thousand years later, the legend of Queen Rielle is a mere fairy tale to bounty hunter Eliana Ferracora. When the Undying Empire conquered her kingdom, she embraced violence to keep her family alive. Now, she believes herself untouchable–until her mother vanishes without a trace, along with countless other women in their city. To find her, Eliana joins a rebel captain on a dangerous mission and discovers that the evil at the heart of the empire is more terrible than she ever imagined.
As Rielle and Eliana fight in a cosmic war that spans millennia, their stories intersect, and the shocking connections between them ultimately determine the fate of their world–and of each other.
My Review:
This book was so amazing. I enjoyed every minute of it. The publishers was nice to sent me a review copy. Enjoyed most of the characters and love the world building.
One queen of blood and One queen of light. Read their stories and discover which one can save the world
Eilana, my favorite. She is kick butt assassin in the book. Do what needs to be done to survive, even hiding her own secrets from the kind himself. Who is she really?
Rielle, I enjoy her story. An young girl in hiding, but force to come out. Endure harsh treatment to prove she either Queen of Blood or Queen of light. Who will she become in the end?
Book is for more older teens. It has some mature contents in it. It for high fantasy lovers. There so many characters to love in the book. Grab some tissues that some sad stuff going on.
Happy Reading!!!!!!
Aru Shah and the End of Time by Ronshani Chokshi
Book Summary:
Twelve-year-old Aru Shah has a tendency to stretch the truth in order to fit in at school. While her classmates are jetting off to family vacations in exotic locales, she’ll be spending her autumn break at home, in the Museum of Ancient Indian Art and Culture, waiting for her mom to return from her latest archeological trip. Is it any wonder that Aru makes up stories about being royalty, traveling to Paris, and having a chauffeur?
One day, three schoolmates show up at Aru’s doorstep to catch her in a lie. They don’t believe her claim that the museum’s Lamp of Bharata is cursed, and they dare Aru to prove it. Just a quick light, Aru thinks. Then she can get herself out of this mess and never ever fib again.
But lighting the lamp has dire consequences. She unwittingly frees the Sleeper, an ancient demon whose duty it is to awaken the God of Destruction. Her classmates and beloved mother are frozen in time, and it’s up to Aru to save them.
The only way to stop the demon is to find the reincarnations of the five legendary Pandava brothers, protagonists of the Hindu epic poem, the Mahabharata, and journey through the Kingdom of Death. But how is one girl in Spider-Man pajamas supposed to do all that?
My Review:
This book was a fun read. I do read middle grade books once in a while. They are fast pace and full of action. Love the storyline and how all the characters come together in the end.
I enjoy Aru so much in the book. She gets bully and lies to fit in. You know how school it like. Fitting in will cost her the end of the world. Enjoyed she wearing an spiderman pjs trying to save it. Will she be able to fix her mistakes before it’s to late?
It’s a fun and a fast pace read. Young adult and middle readers will love this book. I’m looking forward to book two. Lots has happens and tons of secret stuff going on.
Ready to save the world?
Happy Reading!!
