I’m in the middle of The Hive. I’m liking it a bit. It has an interesting storyline.

Looking forward to reading The Memory Thief. The summary sounds very good. The cover is so pretty for it.

{Arc Review} Scars Like Wings by Erin Stewart

Book Summary:

My Review:

Scars Like Wings is a must read. I really did enjoyed this book. I was hooked with the storyline and the characters growth.

It’s a miracle Ava is alive after surviving a house fire. She lost her family and cousin that day also. Within a year of hiding at her aunt house, it’s time for her to venture the outside world. Scars of the past still haunts her, she starts school at a new place. Which is not easy when people start treating you differently.

Will Ava be able to find herself again and start letting people in?

The book has a new fresh outlook to it. Instead of dealing with a pretty main character, you get some who is scar on the inside and out. It was written pretty good and the book draws you. This book recently came out this week. In mood for a new book, then try Scars Like Wings.

{Arc Review} Frankly in Love by David Yoon

Book Summary:

High school senior Frank Li is a Limbo–his term for Korean-American kids who find themselves caught between their parents’ traditional expectations and their own Southern California upbringing. His parents have one rule when it comes to romance–“Date Korean”–which proves complicated when Frank falls for Brit Means, who is smart, beautiful–and white. Fellow Limbo Joy Song is in a similar predicament, and so they make a pact: they’ll pretend to date each other in order to gain their freedom. Frank thinks it’s the perfect plan, but in the end, Frank and Joy’s fake-dating maneuver leaves him wondering if he ever really understood love–or himself–at all.

My Review:

Frankly in Love was such a good read. I enjoy the Korea culture in the book and the characters within it. The storyline was very interesting. Some parts of the book was fun, while there was some serious stuff going on in between.

Frankly life is complicated, since he part American and Korean. He works hard in school and do anything to please his parents. Then one day, Frankly falls with a girl, that his parents will never approve of.

Now Frankly must come up with a plan to keep seeing his girl and hiding from his parents. That’s where his Korean girl best friend comes in. They pretend to date. I mean what could possibly go wrong?

This book was kinda heartfelt read. It deals with some racist in it a bit. I feel bad for Frankly in the book, he deals with hiding from his family and the girl he love. This book has some family bonding moments in it and also some romance. Hopfully Frankly gets his life together in the end. This book is kinda like a Korea Drama which why I liked it so much. Looking for a good family book read, then you might like Frankly in Love.

{Arc Review} Only Ashes Remains by Rebecca Schaeffer

Book Summary:

My Review:

Only Ashes Remains was so bloody good. It’s book two of Not Even Bones series. You may discard review if you have yet book one.

The books leaves off with Nita just blew up the black market and bumped into the guy who sold her out. She thinks she safe for now going back home to her mother. Until she finds out people are hunting her down, the person she thought she killed won’t stay dead.

Time to prove herself to her mother, Nita enlist the aid of Kovit. These two are the perfect monsters and killing a lots of people to get information they want. Leaving a bloody mess along the way, will these two ever find peace.

I enjoy Kovit and Nita interaction with each other. They are trying hard to to be good, but end up getting their morals wrong. No matter how hard they fight it, they just monsters at heart. Who is to judge them on what’s right or wrong?

This book is really a bloody mess again. I love entering Not Even Bones world. I was excited when the publisher gave me a arc copy to review. Hope more people get to enjoy this read. It prefect fall read and horror fans a like. This book just came out today.

So much blood on the main characters hands again.

My Review:

Crown of Coral and Pearl is such a great read. I really liked this book. The storyline was so good and I’ve fallen in love with the characters. This is one book that you must add to your TBR.

Nor and Zadie are twin sisters, they grew up thinking being beautiful will get you far in life. When an accident leaves Nor’s cheek scarred, it’s up to Zadie to become the king’s bride. Yet, Zadie dreams of staying home and marrying her best friend.

When Zadie is chosen to leave the island, she panics and forces her sister to do the unthinkable. Now it’s up to Nor to pretend to be Zadie and protect her family from the prince’s wraith. Will she be able to fool the prince?

This book was such a fast paced read. The sisters bond for each other is well written. They would do anything to help each other out. The world itself is amazing and pretty neat on the magical aspects of it. If you’re looking to start a new fantasy read, then you’ll be in luck with this book.

Crown of Coral and Pearl comes out August 27th.

My Review:

Stolen Things is a mother’s worse nightmare. When being a 911 operator, you never never thought getting a haunting call by your daughter. This book is very chilling read. The story line was good and the can really connect with each characters in the book.

Laurie is good at her job and friends with the cops on the force. She even marry to a cop. Her life seems well and so busy with work. One phone can change her life around.

Jojo, Lurie’s daughter, wakes up in a stranger house. With no memory of what happen that night, she calls for help. Jojo been leading a secret life her parents never knew about. When her friend goes missing, will her serects be revealed. What really what happen to Jojo?

This new mystery/thriller I liked. It has some good twists and turns in it. I do like the cover of this book. It seems innocent the cover. It may have sensitive stuff in it for people. Not sure it’s young adult or adult read. Sorry I have liked the summary and was intrigued with the cover when my friend gave it to me. The book comes out Aug 20th. Something you might want to put on TBR.

Dare You to Lie:

I read this book before but would like to a reread before second book comes out, Don’t Say A Word. This book was prefect for Veronica Mars fans and mystery/thrillers people.

Here is my review of book I did so long ago. It was a blog tour and the giveaway is not good anymore, Dare You to Lie.

#Murdertending:

Another favorite read and hope to reread it very soon. The second book, #murderfunding just came out.

A Dress for the Wicked:

This book is brand new and released this week. I think it’s a Cinderella retelling. The cover and summary sounds amazing.

This is book two of Heart of Iron. I’m nervous how the series will all end.

Heart of Iron is a retelling of Anastasia in space. It was a lighthearted read the first book.

Contaminant:

I really loved the first book Sanctuary. It a very low key scifi read. Not many read it this book. I’m excited for book two being out.

The story is about a space prison gets under attack, only one guard and tons of prisoners with powers left to defend the staton.

Wicked Fox by Kat Cho

Book Summary:

My Review:

Wicked Fox was such a good read. You will be in a culture shock. The story and the details of this book was so prefect. I loved the characters and the fantasy elements that brought it to life.

Gu Miyoung is half gumiko {fox demon} and half human. She must eat every so often or she dies. Since she is half human, she feeds only off on mostly evil people. She still has murals for half demon and trying to please her mother.

When I think of half gumiko, a nine tail fox. It reminds me of my anime series Naruto which I love.

Jihoon is such a sweet guy in the book. He does everything he can to please his caregiver. Then one night walking his dog, his life change when he spots Miyoung in fox form. He was so intrigued with her world and smitten by her beauty, when his world is turn upside when she saves his life that night. What adventures and secrets lives between the two?

This fantasy read was like watching a kdrama {Korea Drama}. It has the making of a great kdrama, that I would love to watch and read over and over again. The cover is such a nice touch to the book. This book is great for new readers to the Korea world and culture of it. Get to learn some fun folklore and enjoy reading the detailed scenery.

{Arc Review} Teen Titans Raven by Kami Garcia

Book Summary:

When a tragic accident takes the life of seventeen-year-old Raven Roth’s foster mom–and Raven’s memory–she moves to New Orleans to live with her foster mother’s family and finish her senior year of high school.

My Review:

When I was young, I used to watch Teen Titans series. My favorite character on the show was Raven. Her story was always a mystery on the show. She always seems down and hiding who she really is. All Raven wanted to do was fit in with the titans and be good, but her pass did catch up with her in the end. She is also the strongest titan on the team, which I thought was cool.

For those who seen the show or read the graphics novels know her story. This is new book by Kami Garcia starts at the begining for those who never heard of Raven or before she was on the teen titans.

The summary tells most of the story. Raven suffers a tragic accident, no memory on who and what she is. Nightmares haunts her at night and people looking for her. Who or what is Raven?

This was a quick read and prefect for graphic novel fans to enjoy this new take on Raven story. You see the struggles she has trying to be normal, and start dating. While at the same time her powers start growing. It not easy being normal teen with magical powers. I really did love this read and I do like reading graphic novels books at times. This book comes out tomorrow if your looking for something different to read.

My Review:

Storm and Fury was such a awesome spin off to The Dark Elements series. You don’t have to read the dark elements to enjoy this book. If your interested in reading The dark elements series, the series starts with White Hot Kis, Cold Stone Touch and Every Last Breathe. I reviewed books 1 & 2 of the books on here.

Storm and Fury set in the dark elements world with some new characters and fun cameos from the book. Which I did love so much. Even I connected with the new characters in the books.

Trinity acts all human, but deep down she is something different. Only a few people in the warden home knows her secret. She may be going blind, but she can kick any demon or warden butt. Once Zayne visit the clan, her life gets turn upside. Something is killing demon s and wadens a like. Will Trinity be any use and can help Zayne out?

This book is a face pace read. I had trouble putting it until it was finish. I love the world building to it. It was fun watching Trinity and Zayne interact with each other also. This book has everything from magical creatures just about. Looking for something new to read, then this book might be for you.
